Cycling

I have just fitted a Brand X dropper to my Orange P7. It took me a while to find a decent dropper for a 27.2 seat tube. The Suntour NCX suspension thingy always looked ugly on it even if comfortable.
For my next trick I want to go mullet 27.5/26" on the P7 if possible, although I'll need to use a lower profile tyre
Yes took me a while to source this one 27.2 as my others are 31. Not the largest drop, but much better than just using the quick release. Plus on sale too, think £118 , which isn’t bad all things considered.
£109 plus £9 delivery

Nice - can’t beat some tinkering!

I have a Suntour seat post - perfect on the (now very dry) bridle paths

My latest tinkering /plan is to fit this moto x style handlebar to my single speed.

Being 6ft7 I’m fed up riding like a TT trialist on all my bikes - plus big retro looks 👌🏻IMG_2225.jpegIMG_1998.png

Any other cyclists out there?

Another “cheap” hobby and rabbit warren of parts and bits!

My friend and I had cheap knock about bikes and popped out once in a blue moon for a chin wag

February 2023 we thought we would step up our cycling and both ordered new bikes.

I went for a Canyon Endurace and he went for a Boardman. We started cycling weekly 17miles and he suggested we enter the local hospice charity ride 50 miles in that April - a big step up from our 17 - I was still walking up some hills…

The week before the planned 50 I rode a practice 50 and as I was raising money I didn’t want to rob folk of their sponsorship so upped the challenge to the 75 which we completed.

Fast forward a year and the event came round again. A year of cycling has done wonders, I’m smashing the hills and now ride a canyon Grizl gravel bike so I can explore the forests also…

This year we signed up for the big one, 125 miles!

Out for the 1000 cyclists I was told only 34 of us took on the 125!

I made up a road wheel set for the day as gravel tyres had too much drag etc

I’m aching today… but it was worth it to see the amount we’ve raised.

I’m in no rush to do it again and I’m now looking up more parts and upgrades….

Happy cycling!
Fair play mate. Good effort that is !!!

Another week another degla, last ride with my pal before he moves back home☹️☹️☹️. So he hire a bike for the day, did a couple of degla laps which is a fair ride. I swapped batteries in between laps(down to about 50% but I don’t do battery anxiety well😂 not after last time and having 3% left!)
Nice and clean having a coffee before the first run

Chilled between runs, there are around 30 + miles of trails. Depending on what routes , varies the trails which can be mostly red and blacks or red and blue . We did both as blues can be just as much fun!

So thought I would post a little taste of some trails at Llandegla forest, not all as don’t want to bore you all. But as this will be the last time we ride, thought I would spam you lot with some footage😜

After the 3km climb, here is a small part of the start

first trail is roller coaster which then branches off to blues and reds to the right, or straight on up to reds and blacks.

Superb! Those hand guards look a worthy investment!
Sendhit ! That’s the brand and yes surprisingly better than expected. Having seen a few use these, already they have saved my fingers on shrubs , branches etc many times on tight trails. I honestly expected them to snap at fist catch! They do flex a fair bit and the brackets on the bars are aluminium . Not cheap, spares can be bought, not for everyone either. But if do some narrow trails where hands and even brake levers can be susceptible, they are worthy of consideration. You soon get use to them and they become the norm soon enough.
There are various colours available, here just black as example
Recommend the moustache too, this is 3d printed and clips on to a brake cable near handle bars. Magnetic it opens and keeps a spare split link inside! Genius , cheap(well noticed gone up £5 but still worth it ) , hold up very well.

Clever!

I use a pot off amazing that looks like a drinks bottles - keep all my small bits in the top and inner tube/levers in the bottom…. I only tend to take on bottle these days so useful place on the road/gravel bikes

I carry too much stuff. Apart from my pump I've never used anything in my kit on my own bikes, just other peoples lol.
I have a Deuter back-pack that has a built in back protector, a bit heavy when loaded but that doesn't matter on an Ebike.
