Crossbow licence announced

So is trap shooting ??
Yes trap shooting is also an Olympic sport and and I believe there are over 450 clubs in England alone,
I'm an archery instructor and crossbows have been brilliant helping those with missing limbs enjoy archery. Abroad crossbows are very much used by the disabled as an alternative to vertical bows.
I agree and those wanting to continue will still be able to do so under proposed legislation....

We shall see, but it's not looking good.

Hunting with dogs banned, lead shot getting banned, air rifles in scotland licensed, crosbows licensed, greyhound racing banned, whatever else........wake up people we are not living under any goverment but dictators!!!!
There all dictators all of them right back though history taking from the poor. To feed There own right back from as far as you can think of..what we can do ??is when they say jump ask how high ..it will matter not one bit who is running the show. There's pepole out there that don't like what we belive in and what we like doing and the powers that be will always listen to them
All we can do is kept within the laws of the land and keep going...yes it's good to have a moan blow off steam now and again. Some of these crossbows have falling into the wrong hands far to easy. Surly everyone will see and understand where all this has came from and im sure will be saying different about it if there family friends were effected by some of the tragic event's we have all herd about

Without wanting to get into a political debate, I'm surprised you can't see the difference between a democratic Government that sometimes makes decisions you don't like, and can be voted out every 5 years, and the likes of Kim Jong Un.

Some people love state control, it must make them feel warm and fuzzy inside believing politicians are keeping them safe.

Hardly a chance of change voting doesnt change anything when all the scum you can vote for are the same epstien uniparty crew

Spoke to an RFD yesterday, he said sales of crossbows has gone mad, he can’t get them in quick enough, his next delivery is already sold.
A lot are panic buying. They my get a surprise if they bring in licensing and its background checked and they are refused a license for any reason . Some may hope they will get compensation and make money from it , They may make some money but I doubt it will be a lot but I could be wrong.

I very much doubt the people buying these will be applying for a ticket, same as when they announced the ban on Brococks.. my local dealer sold out overnight and could not keep up with the demand

Same thing here I think, that’s why so many air cartridge guns were not accounted for.

As the RFD said to me yesterday, the law hasn’t changed yet, nothing from the police or Home Office has reached him. The only stipulation is that you’re over 18. They don’t carry any serial number so he can’t record anything, and people are more than normal paying cash when purchasing.

You might be right though some will apply for a license if they want to keep them legally . Some do care about their criminal records and how it may affect them in later life.

I am sure some will, can’t imagine why you would risk committing a criminal offence for something you can no longer use, but the peppers out there will be squirrelling them away for doomsday

Come to think of it when the restricted sale of all black blank firers was announced they all sold out pretty much overnight as well…

It's not surprising TBH. I have two air rifles and two compound bows. The compound bows have about 25lb of draw and power wise are about 30fpe of energy. They feel slow but reasonably accurate. I owned a crossbow very briefly a few years ago, it was a mistake. It was a compound type but you couldn't adjust the limb power like on a compound bow. The amount of force needed just to load it was scary. I fired it at my foam bow target which is 12 inches thick. it clean holed it and the bolt smashed into a 1000 pieces on the rocks behind it. Sold it straight away, just owning it scared me. Must have been 100fpe easy.
