I want something confirming I’m getting mixed answers off of people, where do you stand on a closed ticket and you are invited out by a friend to shoot on their permission on land that they have cleared for the said calibre you are using?
Thank you

Probably best call your FLO or email the licensing unit at Wooton Hall, I got no answer trying the phone number provided just redirected to the website.

Would be fairly sure in saying that your closed ticket only allows you to (edit) use your gun on your nominated land.

I think the same.

Can you take a pic of your conditions?
Pretty sure you're locked in to land you've registered with the police.

I will when I get my certificate back it is currently being posted back from an RDF with my new gun

Not easy finding information relating to shooting on someone else's land but did find this

Not sure but if you are limited to land specified on your ticket then I'd use that as an argument for changing it to an open one. Good luck.

If one's buddy's land is cleared for a caliber you shoot, & you are cleared to have that very same caliber, know all the safety rules involved with it etc., where's the beef ? Can one attend different rifle ranges cleared for same caliber ? Just interested in ya'lls ( strange to me) "logic". Thanx.🙂

It is all about the ‘closed’ part of his FAC Chris. You are only allowed to use the rifle on that FAC on the land specified.

(However, agreed, with the invitation it is a good reason to have it amended to ‘open’.)

it's not our logic it's the police/Home Office, it's to basically stop you wandering off on land that might not be suitable, or until youve got more experience, that's why you're locked in on land you know.
Unfortunately that covers land that's already cleared for your calibre elsewhere, yes it's a bit stupid but as with anything "gun" you can't write rules for every eventuality, so a blanket one suits the authorities.

I was meaning logic of the authorities. ...thanks.👍🙂

You can only shoot on your land Ed
Even if the land you have been invited on is cleared its still no .
Or the next door farmer wants you to shoot his land it still a no
So in a nutshell . Any other land you want to shoot other the land YOUR certificate relates to , you WILL need it to be approved by your licensing authority.

Thats not the case, If the land is cleared for the calibre and you have permission to shoot, then go for it, you don’t need to inform the police.
A closed ticket only lets you use said calibre on ground that has been cleared by the Police.
If the land in question hasn’t been cleared and his buddy is shooting on an open ticket he can’t shoot that land even if he has permission.

At the end of the day, there is NOT as much difference as some people make out. The main difference is that the land you shoot over must be passed by the Chief Officer of Police for the appropriate calibre whereas unrestricted certificate means that you are responsible for the assessment . You also only need one permission to shoot, any additional permission as long as cleared for calibre and you have the permission of the landowner/ shooting rights you are good to go
PP has it correct

So... Hypothetically, if you own & are cleared on "your ground", for say, a 7mm Brenneke, but closed ticket, and you get an invitation to go stag / boar hunting on someone else's ground, - you're up a creek ?

In the UK, yes. If that ‘someone else’s ground’ isn’t cleared for your calibre. We are debating if you can take your ‘closed’ calibre to ‘someone else’s ground’ that is cleared for your calibre. I suspect it isn’t allowed, but I could easily be wrong.

That was my understanding 👍
