..... so a chance to get out after the greys. Visited the smallholding that so far hasn't failed to produce, and today was no exception. The first customer was busy stripping empty hazels less than 20 yds from the car, the gate into the field providing an excellent rest. The second took a lot more effort to get in the bag though. First off it wanted to play hide and seek for ages then when it was visible it's head wasn't so after circling the tree a few times, eventually the chance arose for a good head shot that dropped it instantly. Unfortunately though it was stone dead it was still 30 ft off the ground, luckily it was an oak with a few ivy stems which made it easier to reach the first branches then plain sailing from there up. It was laying along the centre of a thick branch and would only have taken the slightest kick or spasm to send it earthwards and save me the climb, never mind so long as they end up in the bag. The final one was strange in that after the shot I didn't see it fall so started looking around the treetop in case it was hiding, nothing, gave up after a few mins and made for the base of the tree where I found it among the undergrowth. Three for the day and a very pleasant walk about too.
