combro cb-625 mk4 chronograph - discontinued?

I have been away for a few years and coming back in I was looking at getting cb-625 but they appear discontinued. I am assuming you can only get them second hand now?

What’s replaced them? Seems a shame as for the money and size were very handy.
 
Mine got sent in for repair 2 1/2 years ago…..tried calling Robin and hardly ever answers the phone now. Been considering other means to get item or a reasonable answer as the only response I’ve ever had was his test gun was broken, but even I know it doesn’t take that long to repair a test gun……🤷🏽

I got a Chinese type chronograph as thought it would only be temporary measure, but still in use now. If you try the search function as few use this type but others are available and reliable. I think it depends on how you want to mount it and use it for testing .

Story goes developer / manufacturer of the Combro CB625 Mk4 opted to "de vat" his company due to reducing sales (perfectly legal to do).. he informed HMRC and did all the paper work but they screwed up and they hit him with a ton of bills for "unpaid VAT" dated after he applied to de vat'd .. Last I heard he and HMRC are still in a fight .. he cant manufacture or repair as HMRC see that as sales on his old company .. so we lost the best /cheapest and easiest to use chrono

That’s a real shame, does give slight hope that it might get resolved one day?
 
Dont get me started on HMRC & VAT... spend 2 weeks dealing with them recently... *sigh*
They owe me 500 pounds & spend 2hrs on 2 international calls to be hung up on twice... yay

Holler if you need anything on the NateChrony.
Please buy from the local UK suppliers & support them - the pricing is exactly the same as sending from here in Aus & will be there a LOT quicker. The only difference is if you want a fancy colour.

If you select your country in the top right - it'll display everything in pounds.

Same with me mate. He's had mine now for over two years Homer face palm
It was buggered so nothing lost really, but it's a poor show when his service used to be excellent.
I bet he's got hundreds of people's broken chronos sat at his place.
 
They come up for sale on here every so often
A bit pricey at times but handy little chronos .
 
Recently found my Combro CB-625 been at the back of my amo safe for at least 12 years, popped some new batteries in and it still works ok, I purchased one of the Chinese cronos last year for under £25 (not a muzzle mount) and to be honest it works perfectly well and its seems to be pretty accurate when we tested it side by side with a good old f-1 Chrony. Its like a lot of other things these days, what was £100 plus a few years ago, you can now get from China at a fraction of the price.

Not necessarily...
Any support or post sale service? documentation? Are they registered & pay VAT (hours on quarterly VAT returns)? Build quality - using good components or will it die after a year? Conformal coating for ultra durability? Quality control - how many duds out of 1,000 are there? Any calibration? Software improvements? Certification?

There can be loads of effort behind things that you may not see - or need, until you do!
 
Budget chinese guns and chinese chronys are made for each other, the cheap chronys should be pushed alongside the cheap guns at the point of sale, every beginner should own a chrony but it would be daft to spend more on the chrony than the gun itself,
re the Combro, it would be a crying shame if its the tax/vat man thats forced the demise of a small business.
