Having just seen Matt’s latest video where he mentions his interest is collecting 10m target rifles, he might be interested to know that in my (humble) collection I have the Feinwerkbau FWB 300S with which Barry Dagger took the silver medal in 1978 world championships in South Korea and the bronze in ‘79. I also have the Anschutz LG Match 300 with which Barry got the bronze medal in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Both still have all their competition stickers. I purchased them from Barry a few years ago. Now aged 88, he is a very dear friend and can still outshoot the rest of us! I shoot with him a couple of times each week.

I remember several articles and news reports in the airgun mags, about Barry’s exploits.
Also Malcolm & Sarah Cooper.

Any photos of these historic target rifles?
🙂

Barry is a south paw but I have no problem shooting the guns right handed. They are very heavy and Barry is tiny. At the 1984 Olympics he was 4’10” tall and weighed 5 stone so no mean task holding that gun up for an hour and a quarter. It is on YouTube - 1984 Los Angeles Olympics mens 10m air rifle. Needless to say we rib him at every opportunity - asking him what it’s like to have to shoot uphill, etc. - asking why at the presentations it looks as if he was standing in a hole. He ignores us..,

Amongst some of us of a certain age, Barry is a legend and will be for a long time to come.
Repects to him.
The man’s talents with an air rifle stand much taller than than his 4’10” , a man I wish I could have known in my prime. 👍

Thank You for posting the photo's.
I knew Barry was a slightly built gentleman-I had no idea he was so small.
5 stone-ye God's, his technique must be astounding(y)
Well… no way is he 4’10” now - as we all do, he’s shrunk with age and I doubt if he’s 5 stone, seeing as he’s now roughly spherical… It’s the perfect build for a shooter - little guys don’t sway in the breeze like tall folks do.
