Here's a video of the fantastic CO2 conversion done by Lawrie Armatruda on my LP53:

I never liked the shot cycle of the original LP53 (sacrilege I know) so I gave him mine to convert.. the CO2 conversion is a joy to shoot.
Hardly any movement, 3ftlbs, easy to cock and accurate (with sized pellets) I understand john Walker came up with the idea and I'm very grateful to Lawrie for doing such a great job on mine.

Nope, unless you have a spare piston. The original piston is machined to accommodate the co2 cartridge

This actually LOOKs like a real .22cal pistol, as does the FAS604/6004. At what cost, though? It was made up to a standard, not down to a price.....still.

I believe it was marketed as a trainer for those target-shooting with .22 semiautomatics such as the Hi Standard, Colt Woodsman and Browning Challenger. With the original piston assembly its recoil is similar to its rimfire big brothers.

I dread to think what it would cost to make now.

It looks very well done but don't think I could bear doing it to my early smooth finish example.
I'd prefer to go down the tuning route.
Maybe worth considering for a Predom Luschnik version?

I have two - one black and one brown-gripped, both mint and boxed with all the bits except the barrel weight. The first one I bought in 1973 for £35.......

So? lots of military looking rifles & replica co2 pistols around I wouldn't dare be seen with hunting with for fear of armed response teams landing on me. ( The rifles not the pistols obviously) The co2 replica would be a lot cheaper to produce than the original with few moving parts.

I believe it was based on the Walther Olympia .22 target pistol:
