Bsa r12 low shot count

Yeah I must admit I was expecting more from a 480cc bottle but at least it's an improvement on the original bottle .
I assumed it was a smaller bottle! From a 480cc you should be getting 350+ shots and that's a conservative number. Sounds like the rifle needs tweaking/tuning, I appreciate you're quite happy with it but that should be doing double the current shot count at least. I assume it's .177 as a .22 can even reach 450-500 shots from a 480cc bottle

Yes it's 1.77 and like you say it should be more but the majority of people I've spoken to have said the same about their R12's. Would tweaking/tuning not void the warranty?

Tuneing will make the warranty void but it will make gun much much better all round. They just need setting up properly so they dont waist so much air.

The first thing I would do is chrono a full string, look at the profile to check for any signs of faults/bad tuning and exactly when it's coming off reg. That may give a reason for sending it back or getting it fixed under warranty. If you don't know what you are looking for you can post the results on here and get some advice.

Can the R12 be fitted with a blast tamer (anti hammer bounce)? A simple blast tamer can raise the shot count on a well tuned BSA Ultra by 25% or more.

Historically BSA have a rep for setting reg pressure excessively low, which kills efficiency. Typically I'd expect between 50 and 70% of the manufacturer-quoted shot capacity from an untouched R10; however when properly setup they will do the quoted numbers.

While (in the case of the R10 at least) the regs are shite this is fundamentally a setup issue, rather than a reg problem.

I've no experience of the reg in the R12 so can't comment on them specifically, but it wouldn't surprise me if BSA are continuing down the same path of insufficient reg pressure.. which, assuming the reg's serviceable should be able to be addressed with a good setup.

I got about 10-12 more good shots out of a standard unregulated 177 SE Ultra with the blast tamer fitted.
