Well we had a ride up to see an old mate we hadn't seen for over a year today & after a cuppa & bit catch up he took me into his man cave to show me his recent finds. A nice webley hurricane in excellent condition first, then a berretta co2 in chrome finish in perfect nick too & a walther ppk bb co2 too. We get taking about a mutual mate from the past Simon had bought his cobra strike from around the time I had my 635 magnum too & he showed me some pellets , zan slugs & scope he'd bought as a job lot. I mentioned the vulcan delux ltd edition he had & he asks me to sell it for him on here, then produces a mint simmons whitetail & I bought it off him for £60 inc mounts . As we packed up the vulcan into the bag for me to take it to sell for him , he says hang on, produces another rifle bag & gives me the cobra strike & a spare .22 barrel for it ! So a valuation thread to come on the vulcan & pics of both it & the cobra strike to follow soon, watch this space......The vulcan's a minter, one of the original 110 made, but the cobra strike is in need of restoration but shoots fine as he'd serviced it when he got it, just needs a breech seal that's all. He also gave me a nearly full tin of milbro rhino's for it & said I've got the opens somewhere for it I'll dig them out before you come again....They don't make friends like that anymore.

The Cobra strike has a stained black stock with an imprint of a striking cobra on it and a barrel that was only rifled for half it's length. That Picture shows what is either a BSA 635 or a MAG Mercury. It's a nice gun but not Cobra Money

********! It's just had the stock stripped badly in the past & the barrel is rifled all the way through I just checked......

I never said I was intending to sell it.... it'll be a future project, when the rhinos run out I can always fit the .22 barrel that it came with. I've shot this alongside my 635 magnum I owned & it is just as accurate btw.

Well, had a play with the cobra last night, fitted the little whitetail but had to put both mounts in front of the turret to get the best eye relief. My set of reach back sportsmatch mounts are on my challenger so this will have to do till I find another set for it. It's making very good power at 11.2-3 ft/lbs with the rhinos. The webley has a very stiff trigger,(which reminded me why I never bought one) so hard to pull I kept checking the safety wasn't auto & on after cocking. It's sailing a bit close to the limit so that will have to be adressed before it's sold. My freind never had this one apart since he bought it a few years ago so I suspect a aftermarket spring inside, maybe even an ox, will be taking it apart today to check. Going to bash the hell out of some tinnies today with the cobra to try it out & I think it will make a great rat duty gun for my bird feeders. The rhinos were very consistant in weight at 18.8gn but I checked the .22 hobbies I tested the vulcan with & they varied from 11.2 to 12.3gn ! Any links to a good vulcan stripdown would be appreciated.....

Had a bit play with the cobra on a tin can & some over ripe windfall appples at 25 yards, it fair smacked the crap out of the can as expected & was smacking the apples well. Thanks to cammies thread on a vulcan he's just picked up I found the trigger adjuster allen screw on the vulcan & luckily had a cut down brit size allen key to clear the scope to adjust it out to get the pull ok. Not had the chance to delve inside it yet to detune it as was rebuilding a drive gate all day.

Just so happens i had a brand new bsa breech seal in my spares box for the cobra too ! happy days !

That's a minter mate, was it refurbed or never out the box till the picture.
It is refurbed........Midcounties Blacking did the metal work.....3 places declined tackling the stock....one concern was black paint filling the snake and writing and losing detail but I found a young man in south Wales who did a brilliant job...lots of dings and dents in it too. Now doing 11.4 ft lbs.

Thought it looked better than they did when new. They are easy to get full power out of too.
