Break barrel pistol old or new?

Picked this up today in lovely condition Original Model 5 Cast your eyes over it and let me know. Is it a keeper?

Best 1 I have is Diana LP8 Magnum. Awesome accuracy at 10, even at 25m.
Diana LP5G/P5 Magnum are good as well, as are the 6 and 10 but they need overhauling.
UK! Tempests etc are nice but accuracy wise not near the same league.
HW70 is nice too but disappointing trigger and not as accurate as my LP8s.

Silly question, it’s a pistol, of course it’s a keeper 😂 mod 5 seriously well built spares available, easy to work on. Only thing to watch is the shims in the breach seal and the seal itself. If there is metal to metal at the breach you will not have enough elevation adjustment, so will end up with high shots. The seal needs to hold the breech apart this is done by having a new seal and a number of shims behind it to hold the barrel just right so your in the adjustment sweet spot. This is definitely not a great thing as the seal will always be compressing so you will always need to monitor it and make sight adjustment. That said if your shooting a target in a comp you get sighters and will expect to move the sights a click or two even for light, it’s just you need to know that when you start to get to the bottom of the adjustment you need to change the seal or add another shim.

Ah yes it was a rhetorical question 😎 Thanks so much for taking the time to pass on that useful advice. Hopefully do a chrony and some tests for accuracy later.

Ok so a quick chrony shows her firing around 350 ft/sec around 2.35 foot/lb with 7 grain Hobby pellets Feels very comfortable and easy to shoot at that power is this enough for 6/10 metre target work?

Yes, but that’s not for me. if I get a secondhand one I’d want an older one in a box, or a brand new one. I’m not in a hurry to get one but it’s definitely on the long term list.

Cheers,
Matt
Ok good luck with your quest enjoyed the YT videos you did showing your collection. Excellent

Think I’ve struck lucky here. She’s a real beaut like new, groups really well just need to improve my technique. I’m reasonable with rifle springers but this pistol springer malarkey is a new discipline for me. Thanks again to all the thread contributors.
