BLACK DOG - THINFORD, COUNTY DURHAM

Look at it another way, it’s likely warm, well lit and has a range of targets. I tend to use WARR in preference to outdoor ranges over the winter for exactly that reason.

You aren’t wrong. The old plan for Phili bus depot falling through was a pita. We just don’t have a decent indoor 50yd range anywhere. Outdoor yes, but indoor is a no :(
True buddy

I was all excited there for minute! North East's biggest indoor shooting range! Somewhat disappointed that it's another one where the longest lane is 20m. There's definitely a gap in the market for an indoor venue with 40 or 50m.
There was talk of 1 being opened in Philadelphia near Sunderland which was going to be 50m but sadly it never happened

Tell us more 😄
New range in Newcastle at B&K's new premises in a few months, looks like the longest indoor range in the area from what i've read. Also as this is the Black Dog thread, they seem to have a second location now in Teesside.

Unit 7 Copeland Court, Forest Grove Business Park , Middlesbrough, TS2 1RN

Yes they have, just opened the one in Boro.

Finally got chance to visit on Saturday, when you are driving up towards the back fence of the estate, it’s to your right inside the complex. Nice little indoor range, friendly, but a little cold in this weather, if you were expecting it to be centrally heated like WAR for example, you may want to bring a jacket. Longer ranges are up stairs, electric target controls didn't like the cold, but were persuaded to play nice and are apparently in line for upgrades soon, shop has a reasonable selection of stuff and staff were friendly/helpful. I may end up chucking the money at two monthly memberships as they work out at decent value based on shooting time, normally £6/hr with your own gun and selection of target cards chucked in.

All in all, a nice little indoor range for when the weather isn't playing nice and would reccomend.

Glad you liked it it does get cold there but you do get free tea and coffee

I really enjoy shooting here. Been going for well over a year now with my son. Jason, the guy that owns it is sound and Chris the Manager is very knowledgable and helpful. I have found that its a great winter option, free coffee and tea and the members are all really helpful too. Has its own little community of regulars. I think they may be looking at another building so they can offer longer than the 20 yards that they have upstairs at the moment.

The only one in the area thats indoor will be B&K when that opens. Still handy if you want to zero up and it’s blowing a gale or peeing it down/freezing though :)
I'll be (pleasantly) surprised if Baggys open an openly accessible range. Isn't it more likely to be limited to those trying before buying or specific organised events?

Did you read the thread Rich posted asking what people coming to shoot on it wanted? Because 100% that’s not what has been stated either on the forum or off it.
