Bench rest scope

@Bazzatron, there is another option between the Sentinel and the T50i mentioned by @jfox61, which is the Vector Minotaur approx £150 cheaper, the big difference between these and the Sentinel is that they are both 50X and let you use 40X with little drop-off in performance.
The important thing to remember is don't max out the magnification on any scope.
I have sold my Sentinel and I now own the Vector Minotaur 10 to 50X, the Falcon T50i 5 to 50X, and the Falcon X50 at 10 to 50X; there's not a great deal of difference between them optically, especially in the center of the lens, where as I said earlier as a target shooter on a range that's all I'm interested in, there is a big difference in price between these scopes but I've paid for improvements I don't use or need Homer face palm I also have a Sightron 36 X 45 fixed scope which is Very good opticaly but the reticual is so fine I can hardly see it, that's back in the box until I have my caterats fixed, if I still can't see it I guess It will be up for sale:(

I've heard that the Minotaur has an exceedingly fine reticle that can be hard to see - but I'm torn between grabbing one or just going whole-hog on something like the t50i+ when my budget has recovered from going through the grant process (inevitably a 22rf match rifle is also on the cards...)

Feels like unless you luck out and meet a generous soul at a competition, you're rarely in a position to try these things before you commit!
 
I have previously said I like the sentinel over my t50i and that still stands but I have now experience the both of them in a low light situation and really didn't like it both way to milky and made the target hard to see. Just gave in and bought an x60i hoping for the money it will be a marked improvement. I have only had the t50i though not + which I think is suppose to be better glass.
 
They are good BR starter scopes.
The ret is very fine.
The image can get a bit milky at max mag.
But they are relatively cheap and seem to be good quality.
I have one and it seems ok.
 
I think the Sentinel is great option, at it's price point, for BR entry. Well looked after second hand scopes seem to hold their value well.
It's nice to see the Minotaur get a worthy mention. Mine are 12-60x60, and preferred them over the Big Nikkos I have owned, never tried a Falcon to compare.

I've had/got both. Sent the 60 mag minotaur back IMO, it does not even come close to the t50i. The illuminated reticle switch was diabolical. The t50i is in a different league glass wise and worth saving up the extra cash for. The t50i+ is even better @Bazzatron

Op's I forgot to mention the illuminated reticle switch on the Minotaur; you described it as diabolical. I would say it's "absolutely" diabolical, but I found a quick solution to the problem; it was simple: I took the battery out and "forgot" all about the switch :) . I don't like an illuminated reticle
but having one does not stop me from buying a scope.
