Back yard

As above - people do- I have a target box, maybe a foot square, old rubber car mats at the back, some old thin copper sun dial/clock face as a back stop and just cut a few card board layers to fit at the front, to absorb pellets and allow for them to penetrate the box. So you don't get any clangs with lead hitting metal spinners etc . Just put some playing cards face in , in the box or whatever.

New to the world of airguns and the only place ive been able to do shoot is my backgarden. Ive been shooting from inside the house and just a bit wary of the noise from inside, so do consider that when shooting. Also, look up at the laws regarding boundaries etc for example, make sure no pellets pings past your boundary as you get get into a lot of trouble, potentially

Used to before they built behind my backstop. Now thanks to a tandem garage I limit my shooting to 6yd pistol indoors.

I'm shooting of my decking got pellet catcher plus pallet in case

What's everyone's thoughts on target shooting on back garden with pellet catcher
Just try and pick a corner of the garden which might provide an opportunity to be directly out of anyone's line of sight. Its what I do, one corner where next door cant see me and I never walk up the garden with an air rifle.. no one could say, "look what I have seen".. just stay out of peoples view and make a decent portable target box or something, with material to stop pellets pinging out or re bounding. I stay in the corner and put an unused brown bin up the garden for bird feed, but its a backstop. All covered by the fence - out of sight.

I think if your considerate and have a safe backstop and think you need to be 50 feet from a public road or footpath I think you should be fine

I’ve got a set up that means my target box is in the shed. The 7” target has plumbersmait in it as does the steel plate I have for the big Br20 targets. Originally they weren’t and the metal noise even irritated me so god knows what the neighbours thought.
Just make sure that no pellets at all leave your boundary…….dom

I think most of us have shot in the garden at some time or another, I still do 20m to target and railway sleepers as a back stop. Just follow the rules and you’ll be fine. I also engage my neighbours in conversation so they don’t think your the next item on the 6 o’clock news. Both my neighbours have kids and I’d never shoot when there in their gardens. Good luck and be safe.

I pop away every now and again from inside the back garage door into the garden.
I have a mobile target built from a plastic storage box, nice and big with plenty of
stuffing so no undue noise.
Never used a pellet catcher because of that, and the size of the little buggers.
However to go forward enjoy it, be safe and courteous.

I plonk my self in the middle of the garden and that gives me 28m, I could go to 30m but I'd have to move a load of garden stuff.
The neighbour often sees me and never says a word.
Mind you it's his property and the 1000ish acres around it I have permission on 😉
We do get walkers on the lane but I don't think technically it's a pf but the owners aren't to bothered, I tend not to shoot if peeps are walking on the lane, more out of curtesy than anything else. And if anyone said anything I'd tell them, politely, to jog on, a pf doth not a carriageway make.
The local constabulary use some of the land and woods for dog training occasionally (hq is not a mile away) and they've seen me walking about with air rifle and shotguns and we have a quick chat to pass the time of day.
All very amicable really, think the only way out is a pine box for me. 🤣😃
