Atherton Indoor Range

Downstairs is great. Automated target holders that run your target out from 25 yards to maybe 50 yards at 2.5 yard intervals. You control your own targets so no-one else needs to stop shooting when you change them.

Upstairs is much more old school. Just the raw mill and no automation. Everyone has to stop if someone wants to change a target. What I find is that leads to much more chatting and banter.
Do like the idea of automated targets, but sounds like upstairs is similar to Bolton Gun Club

You can do both in a session (assuming there is room). I was there on Saturday with a new scope that I'd never zeroed. Used the automated targets to zero it moving the range out in a couple of steps then went upstairs for the majority of the session.

To be honest I have not been to Bolton gun club , but I can say I have been to Atherton , everyone there is so friendly very strict safety which you would expect , the robots are brilliant excellent for learning and get to know other shooters , Geoff is the range officer he will tell you foreshore in you are not doing thinks correctly safety wise , he will help you also if you need help like most people there
