Anyone else given up smoking?

Plus like you say, over £40 a pouch now!!🥴
That would last me 5 days, so yeah, huge savings is also a big incentive to stop for good.
So put £40 of coins in a bag every 5 days and when you cannot pick it up get someone to help you get it to the preferred RFD and buy a new gun and look at it as a freebie.

I switched to vaping last October after 47 years of smoking rollups. I had tried before without success and therefore already had all the kit required.

One week I found I wasn't enjoying my rollups so used that as an excuse to give the vaping another try. I had some 3 year out of date vape juice in Virginia flavour left over and used that. I didnt realise it was that old before trying. I found I enjoyed the experience and not having to pre-roll a load of ciggies before I went out for the day.

I vape a lot less than I smoked and have no craving to return to rolly's at all. At some point I may stop the vaping, but Im not going to push it yet.

Smoked since I was 11 now 51 ish can't remember:confused: worked up to 60 B&H a day, always said if I could of stuck at 20 would of smoked rest of my like. Been stopped now for about 14 years still miss them most days:cry:. At my last man day check up was told had lungs of a 66 year old, can't ever see me starting again as the thought of how hard it was to stop put me off starting again.

I gave up smoking rollups and drinking the day i became a grandfather 15 years ago after smoking since 14 and never being without a packet of golden Virginia in all those years,
I am thinking of trying a vape as I did enjoy a puff when stressed,
When I stopped the craving was gone in a few days but the habit of having a fag in conjunction with another activity, ie a quick fag before or after doing something was when the yearnings returned.
I am not anti smoking like some and do like the smell of quality tobacco,
I used to love smoking.

I packed up 17yrs ago i struggled with wanting something in my mouth so i used nicotine gum the cheapest (tesco) tasted foul but it worked for me. my first attempt i think failed cos it was not MY idea, once i decided to i made it. Just one drawback when i came off nicotine gum i went onto normal gum which i still chew daily. Shrug tt

Started at14 ,stopped via cold turkey and determination at 34 now I`m 62and wouldn't`t smoke again for 1000,000 pounds- I really do mean that , just carry on as you are fb, the battle is pretty much over already buddy -promise you. stick in there buddy - one of the best decisions you will make in a long time-good on you - just stick in there buddy good luck , mark

I quit in January 2004 funnily enough after a previous attempt that also lasted around 5 months in 2002.

Stick at it as you already know the benefits of giving up. Good luck and all the best.

Cheers
Barry

brings back my Dad`s sense of humour this, he used to say QUITING SMOKING IS EASY I`V DONE IT LOADS OF TIMES 😂

"Giving up smoking is easy, I have done it hundreds of times"- Mark Twain

I stopped 11 years ago, vaped for a bit then knocked it all together. I loved a good smoke.

I fell off the wagon for about a week after stupidly smoking a few cigars with some whisky whilst giving my Dad a send off via Skype when he passed away overseas...not covid, but the travel restrictions meant I couldn't go in person.

Anyway, the old bullet never smoked, except for a cigar at weddings or funeral.

I had to break out my old vape kit again, but all good again.

The problem is, I still get very rare episodes when I could easily spark up a smoke, it's like an associative event turns on the switch, such as the smell of hot fuel and cooling motorcycle engine after a good ride, and when going on bush trips in Africa. Its bloody hard out there because everybody smokes....

Still, I'm cigarette free and to be fair in normal day to day life, the smell of cigarette smoke is rank and does nothing but revolt me.

You’re doing much better than me @Foxbuster. After 40+ years of smoking anything that burned I resolved to make 2025 “the year”. I lasted about 12 hours. I am trying really hard but the best I can manage at the moment is to cut down to 4 per day rather than the usual 10-15 roll-ups. The 4 I have are the usual ones…..with my first coffee, after meals and my last coffee or tea of the day. I really enjoy a smoke but my last bout of illness just before Christmas was made 10 times worse because of smoking.
I’m going to keep trying and reading about everyone else’s experiences has increased my resolve to carry on and I now feel that I am no longer alone. Good luck @Foxbuster 🤞.

Yes, I gave up when I was 25. I started at 15! (now 60).
I would smoke 20 a day, and if I was down the pub 20 a night.
Tried to give up a couple of times, but was not successful.
Then when I was 25 I got a bad case of Bronchitis, and physically could not smoke for about two weeks. That was the opportunity to give it up, which I did and never looked back. One of the best things I ever did.
Congrats to anyone else who has managed it....

I quit smoking about 10 years ago then vaped up untill 2020.I kind of gave up by accident .I never miss vaping but I do miss smoking at times .I don't get bad cravings its just sometimes the smell of a cigar or a pipe gets me .
I thought I was the 1 person who'd never be able to stop as I loved smoking and I thought everything was better with a smoke .Its not easy but I'm sure the tobacco companies gaslight how hard it is to encourage people to keep smoking .🤔
