Anyone been to the Stalking Show?

If there are a group of you meeting up I think you should all enter the deer call competition and let us know who gets highest place.

Staying in an Air B and B Friday to be there for the doors opening on the Saturday. That way can get over the trauma of the M6 by going to the pub.

Take some cash, if i remember correctly the last couple of years theres been a few issues with the card machines, the place is like a faraday box no signal inside.
And don’t forget your FAC, plenty of deals on ammo!

I have attended the Shooting show since it started and I thoroughly enjoy it- previous to this I used to attend the midland game fair every year, until one year it was very noticeable- It was turning into a car boot. I think I went for another two years after that and decided enough was enough for me unfortunately due to the high costs that are charged for the pitch many shops stopped going. I fear that this will be the case with the Shooting show as well, for some reason greed takes over. They charged for parking the other year although they did learn their lesson and didn’t charge thereafter.
How true it is I do not know but I have heard it costs tens of thousand for some of the biggest stalls to set up- that’s a huge amount of products that they would have to sell before they start making a profit!

Yup, my main field shooting now TBH. My car has a roof rack so if I see a double high seat I can take away, could be coming back with me.....need a double as my arse is ever expanding ......😂

Just seen that there is a target show planned for Stoneleigh Park in the Autumn now too. My newest rifle is a target one so will probably toddle along there too as it's just about an hour away......

I have a buttolo and bit hit and miss TBH. May listen in to see how people do it. Have had stupid young bucks charge in to it though.....so close had to freehand the shot.
 
Bought my ticket for the Saturday.

Having a bit of a trip.

Travelling up Friday as I'm meeting an old workmate from my time as a bizzy in Liverpool nearby for a round of golf followed by beer and a curry.

Saturday, pick up some LR ammunition I bought ages ago from a fella who lives near the show, then off to the show. General mooch and if I see a Hik Alpex Pro, it's coming home with me......

I'm also meeting a guy and selling my .308 Sauer 404 barrel and magazines.....which will off set the above......

Then pick up some Fox 7mm projectiles too from Edinburgh Rifles for my forthcoming 7x64 replacement barrel. Also trying to work out suitable powder for it on various programmes. Eds taking pre orders so should be able to get some from him.

My poor credit card........😃

Indeed. But good to see my mate, and hopefully a good day out Saturday. As said, not been impressed with with the NEC event so hoping this is better.

Im also looking at a Devana hunting high seat, to see if I 've made a good choice recommending one.. Done a deal with a local guy with a big (60 😳 acre) back garden to buy me one in return for shooting the Munty eating his daffodils......

It's getting delivered there in a week or so. Deal is he gets 12 months of deer control and I get to keep the high seat.....

Sounds like a win win situation with the highseat!
 
Still looking like the Sunday for me, I may stock up on some .308 ammo because as of yet I am not reloading that one. Apart from that who knows what I might come back from the show wanting.
 
I'm there on Saturday. Got an empty slot for a 6.5 Creedmoor and I quite fancy the look of the Tikka Ace Game.
Spookily there is a talk on Saturday afternoon ...

I'll be there Saturday, driving a friend who has his FAC up on Saturday early and then back home Sunday. I'm currently toying with the idea of applying for a FAC.

Just to say @Nobodys Hero , Edinburgh Rifles are running a bargain bucket with lots of part boxes of ammunition at low prices. Basically anything they've tried for sighting in scopes, checking rifles etc. May be worth a look as you may find 10-15 rounds of types of ammunition to try or that you know work on your 308.....
