Had a huge interest in keeping stick insects and Mantis in my youth.
Started looking at what species are kept now days.
Anyone keeping any interesting pets?

We've always had invertebrates but never kept Mantis'. Currently down to 2 Steatoda paykulliana.
On the brink of ordering a Scolopendra but waiting for the right species to become available.

We’ve had various mantids, sticks and nymphs over the years. We are lucky as we have loads of preying mantis in the garden. I have to watch out for them while mowing.😁

Recently I’ve got the ants bug. If that’s a thing? You can get some quite interesting modular systems for not much money, and growing a thriving colony from a queen with a few workers is quite rewarding.

Cool…..Would be nice to get them in the garden, one of the benefit’s of living in a warmer climate.
Yep…ants as “pet” are becoming very popular in the UK with some interesting species.
Nice looking mantis…would like to get hold of an Ootheca or two lol 😝

One of our ex-members had stick insects living off the roses in his garden in St Ives ...
