As we know it is important to fill your PCPs with dry air, but the barrel contains atmospheric air. When the pressure wave travels down the barrel does it cause condensation? I would imagine it would, but I don't know, so please correct me if I am wrong. I have however never had a problem of corrosion in the barrel. I put this down to it being coated with lead. If we have to switch to alloy pellets could this become a problem? Would it be worth adding this to the lead ammunition consultation?

yep, as you can't invent a new 'lead', can't seem springers surviving unless new springers are made with barrels/twist/other specifically for non-lead offerings, but the cost of non-lead pellets will probably kill the market anyway, so I foresee a lot of £5 springers going to mainland Europe and further afield in bulk from Holts in the coming 2 years!!!
Back to subject, yes, i'd imagine regular cleaning to avoid corrosion, same in .22LR - although the .22LR might only survive with new rifles as well designed for non-lead as the current offerings are terrible at grouping, existing twist rates simply can't handle the non-lead offerings. Will manufacturers start making springer/pcp/.22lr barrels to help us poor sods in the UK because we can't shoot lead,,,probably not.

Come on chaps, lead is great for pellets as it is dense and soft. Unfortunately also toxic. I propose high carat gold instead - essentially inert with no toxicity issues. Depleted Uranium might also be an option, but you’d have to ensure that it was fully depleted as otherwise there would be some toxicity issues.
What good will they do there if they ban lead also ?

even in scandinavia they started reversing lead bans after seeing how it panned out I've been told. Germany only pushing it in the national forests I believe.
nowhere else I know of in europe talking about non-toxic

I believe the EU has similar proposals, and ours are to some degree based on theirs.

If lead gets banned just keep a tin to keep the barrel lined and fire them off in the house. With fishing weights they used heavy alloys such as bismuth to replace lead. I should imagine a soft copper alloy would be a good replacement for lead in air rifles and not cause too much barrel wear. The pellets would probably need to be slightly longer to make up the missing weight.
Some EU countries are still looking at banning it. I would assume if there was an EU ban then other countries would follow.
Demark is looking to be the first if it not already is.

No the ban does not cover the sale it's the USE that will be banned unless on an HSE-licensed range as I have said before this includes your garden

actually, I've heard it's the 'ownership' of any lead based projectiles..which is even worse.

If the current proposals go through you will be allowed to shoot lead projectiles on HSE-licensed and indoor ranges, I have read a lot, not all of the 227 pages of this proposal, and have not seen any mention of ownership, I assume that being able to shoot on licensed ranges ownership will be no issue
only what I have read but if you suffer from insomnia give it a read it's a guaranteed cure
