An odd one for the PC buffs?

Professionals refer to it as "Cycle system power"

At least. bl**dy Microsoft did to me...
Professional here - I can vouch for the technical effecacy of a good old power cycle.
Though "Power cycle" is specifically turning the machine off entirely, allowing time to pass to ensure that all of the volatile memory clears (which happens maybe even minutes after you power off), before powering back on.

Having served my required period in a call farm - I can also vouch for doing it just to buy me time to research an error 😆

Yes. Basically Microsoft are rubbish in my view. They sell junk with buried limitations. Ever tried indexing a 200 page Word Document?
It fell over at about 40 pages. The newer interfaces take half a screen for a toolbar I don't use. The menus are not intuitive. Paint is now a disaster. And so on. As soon as a feature becomes good they change it.
It's been that way for some time, sadly - but just like most major advancements that humanity makes, the enshittification of Micro$oft products have fuelled the open source or indie scenes basically out of pure spite.

A pretty promising project that's being worked on by a compSci grad is a utility to migrate Windows to a Linux build with as little user faffing around as possible. Looks really cool, and I hope we get a release soon!

When you're finally at the end of your rope with Microsoft, I wholly recommend looking at installing some flavour of Linux ("mint" if you're not particularly interested in tinkering or learning the ins and outs of Linux). It has less packed-in spyware, has breathed life into old hardware that I have kicking about that has no business still being alive, and offers basically the same user experience.

The one caveat I've got to warn about on a Linux OS is that if you have any super obscure software (old builds of a target recognition app, old serial or USB 1 peripherals) then you may struggle to find a replacement or a way to get it running without performing some sort of ritual sacrifice (of beer and pizza to your local nerd, but blood in the full moon might work in a pinch...!)

Cut the cord, even out of spite!

Broadcasting a server restart message to get a fag break...

Once you train middle management that infrastructure stability is directly tied to the sanity and blood:substance levels of your infrastructure team, you can have coffee and smoko any time you like 😅
'No food or drink in the server room'

We'll go outside...

Firefox has a dark mode has that switched after up date or glitch.
To turn off dark mode in Firefox for Windows and macOS, click the menu button (three horizontal lines), select Settings, then go to the General panel and scroll to Language
