Alpex Lite LRF shot recording issues

So there seems to be a bit of existing discourse out there for the Pro, and after an outing on the rabbits last night, it seems I'm also suffering with an issue on the Alpex Lite LRF not always recording shots. I've enabled the shot recording function in the settings, and about half the time it does record the shot.

I'm using a hw100 in .22 sub 12, so I'm assuming the recoil on this so so marginal that it only activates the recording function some of the time, not all.

A question then for other Alpex lite owners, anyone else has this issue?

I might drop an email to Hikmicro to see if there's anything coming in terms of software update to perhaps fix it, quite annoying!

Trouble is , if you make it any more sensitive it’s going to start recording as soon as you change a magazine , put it down on a bench / rest / fence post or just general moving about .

I guess it depends on exactly what mechanism it is that triggers the recording, if it's an accelerometer, then yeah, anything and everything could set it off if you dial up the sensitivity. That being said though, the short, sharp spike from the round or pellet firing will present a very different acceleration profile to most things the scope will be experiencing.

I might just have to remember to hit record and stop on the scope instead, a reasonably fool-proof method, but relies on me remembering!

I assume it is an accelerometer, so the more sedate the the gun, the less likelihood of it triggering reliably.
My Gamo Gx-40 seemed to trigger my Hik Thermal fairly well, but not all the time, so I saw it as a curiosity rather than relied on it.

Perhaps try having recording on all the time (it is up from sleep), but using an external power bank if you are concerned about power use.
When ratting, unless it was really busy I'd start the recording when it looked like it was worth it, and after I got something of note, move the gun in an un/down nodding movement and stop the recording, and then restart a new file.
That way with multiple video files I only had to inspect the last few seconds of the "odd length" ones, to know if it was worth keeping.
I also shook it from side to side before ending the recording if the thing was being turned off, or I knew the video was not worth keeping.

Thanks, not a bad suggestion too. Honestly so far between the internal and secondary battery, it's lasting well, so not at the stage of feeling I would need an external battery pack, plenty of 18650 batteries floating around.

It was my first real go out with it at night, and it did a perfect job otherwise, I just need to invest in the IR torch as there are a couple of heavily treed areas where there wasn't enough ambient light to see the quarry. I guess I was more aggrieved as my 2 best shots never recorded!

I guess that's really the crux of the matter isn't it. My experience is evidence enough that's the case. I'll try next time I'm out to record the shots, then it's a 50/50 if it records or doesn't if I do forget. Not the end of the world either way, a minor gripe for an otherwise super bit of kit!

Well it's recoil activated, and PCP's don't have any real recoil - the system is designed for powder burning rifles. I never expected it to work.
