Hi all
Been with RIPE for the last two years which expires the end of this month. Over the last two renewals as expected each year the premium increases which the next renewal increases by double; never claimed.
What’s everyone else using or recommendations.
Cheers

Make sure you fully read the policy as some have tried to claim on insurance and found it did not cover their claim. As with any insurance , read the small print .
Tried to claim on country cover club or on air rifle insurance in general ?

Do you mean insurance that covers theft of your guns or more general for when out and about shooting with public liability cover etc ?

If you have it, check your house insurance. It usually covers personal legal liability for you and anybody living at your address. Most insurers don’t exclude firearms. So if you accidentally shoot somebody, they will deal with any claim made against you. As for the equipment itself for loss or damage. Again, get your home contents insurer to cover it

Have you heard of people who have claimed and found not be covered ?

Yes I have , I was told of one claim BY SACS when I asked a query.

A member of another forum saw this in their wording .

Criminal Action

Please note that a criminal investigation or conduct may invalidate any claim made under the members' insurance policy. This is normal practice where insurance policies are bounded by lawful conduct. As a country sports and shooting advocacy body, SACS cannot become involved in criminal or related matters.

A person wilfully causes criminal damage to another person's property with his air rifle. In this case it was a greenhouse and the criminality was proven beyond doubt by a witness to the event and CCTV footage. The greenhouse owner claimed for the damage, but because the claim 'event' was wilfully criminal it wasn't a matter for PL insurers. In any case the shooter forgot to renew their membership the year before.

If you commit a crime , it voids your policy in most of the insurers terms

A rather different situation @Bighit

You insurance will cover you for negligence, so something you did accidentally, but not for a deliberate act. It’s the same as your car insurance. They will cover you if you accidentally run somebody over on the pavement. If you do it deliberately and “use your car as a weapon” then they won’t pay. Not that you would care if you are in prison

Some may not think of it though and assume they are covered .

Make sure it will provide you with a lawyer who specialises in shooting. That way you're likely to get your guns back quicker

So far as I am aware, there is no such provider who would cover you to put you in touch with a fully funded £450 per hour lawyer if you had “legal problems”. I could be wrong, however. But as far as I know there isn’t one. You won’t get this from a fifty quid policy with so called “Legal Protection” that’s for sure

BASC has a legal team they use and they have fought many cases. They fund it from their Fighting fund https://basc.org.uk/support-us/fighting-fund/
The old Chairman of BASC is Peter Glenser KC . https://www.9brchambers.co.uk/our-people/peter-glenser-kc/ He does cases for them as do others .
