I just wanted to raise something that’s been bothering me lately regarding the discount code I provide to forum members.
The intention behind offering a discount is to give something back to the community — to people who contribute, share knowledge, and help keep the forum active and valuable. It’s not really meant as a free-for-all for anyone to sign up, take the code, and disappear.
Unfortunately, it’s become clear that some people are doing exactly that. Signing up purely to access the discount, with no intention of contributing at all. Even more frustrating, one recent experience involved someone using the code and then making a series of unreasonable requests afterwards, which frankly put a bit of a dampener on what should’ve been a good Easter weekend.
I’m always happy to help customers and go the extra mile where it’s fair, but situations like that make it difficult to keep offering these kinds of perks in good faith.
As a result, I’ve currently reduced the general forum discount to 5% (AGTF5). However, I’m more than happy to offer individual 10% codes to regular, contributing members of the forum — the people this was always intended for.
I’m not saying this applies to everyone — far from it — most of you are great and that’s exactly why the code exists. But I do think it’s worth highlighting, as it takes advantage of something that’s meant to support the community.
Going forward, I may need to review how the code is shared or used to make sure it benefits the people it was intended for.
Appreciate everyone who genuinely contributes

That’s reasonable as you don’t have offer anythingHi. Shame, theres always people come along to spoil things for others. Fair play for offering anything at all though.

Bravo - very reasonable response imo. Maybe require us to message you to request a code and you can then decide what to offer?I just wanted to raise something that’s been bothering me lately regarding the discount code I provide to forum members.

Think for now that would be the best way of doing it. If anyone wants a code i can make a unique one. i can then also see if the codes are being passed around etc.Bravo - very reasonable response imo. Maybe require us to message you to request a code and you can then decide what to offer?
Not sure how id set that up, but for now i will do unique codes for people.Maybe you can see if you can get it as a sticky in the sales forum. Forces the standing 50 post requirement to get access to it with no extra wok from yourself. Don’t know if that breaks any sponsor rules though. Also doesn’t stop others posting it elsewhere in the forum etc. so not perfect.
