I have run into some trouble trying to fix my Aeron B96. Does anyone on this forum know how to remove the original draw bar pivot pin on an Aeron B96?

The draw bar pivot pin spins around if grabbed and turned with a set of pliers, but does not move vertically like a screw would when turned. Both the top and the part that is visible under the drawbar spins when using a set of pliers to turn the draw bar pivot pin, so top and bottom of the pivot is connected.

I have also tried to tap it out from under with reasonable force not to destroy the Cross bar, but it does not come out.

The purpose of removing the draw bar pivot pin from the cross bar is to put in a new drawbar and spring that cycles the magazine for every shot (it is a 5-shot semi-auto pistol).

I would appreciate any advice. Cheers!

i would have to grab mine but i think Pete is right that is a rivet, so that was manufactured at the factory as an assemble
now here is the really bad news
drilling a rivet that will spin is very hard but you have the top mess up already so small vice grips and some extra hands and then how to fix after that

so, the correct term for that part is a shoulder rivet
now finding one after you destroy that one could be a interesting
i would guess it had a fixture that held it and the rivet is hollow and a tool spun the end open to have it held in place
now the correct size shoulder screw could take its place but you would have to thread the piece it goes through

It looks to me, from the photos, that it is rivetted in ( i/e/ The end is peened over. So you would need to fully fupport theDrawbar then punch it out .
Pete.
This is correct, I had to hold the drawbar and drill out the stud (can’t remember what size drill bit I used, but if you have a spare stud measure the centre diameter and go .2 under).

You can then fit the new one, and use a centre punch or similar to flare out the skirt and create a new peened edge.

In terms of spares Sureshot can source from the Aeron factory if you ring them and ask very nicely. Or they could do last year when I did mine at least.

I have never had to remove one of these but if I did I would use a small diameter ball (diamond type preferably) in a dremel to grind away some or all of the lower compression section of the rivet. Then tap out the top section. As said a drill will just spin it.

so let me tell about parts
i tried Sure Shot and after a while he sent me to a place in the Czech Republic and he tried and tried and tried
i was after a complete rear sight form the Chameleon model 5
he sent me to the guy with the parts and he did nothing and we went around in circles for months
the guy with the parts out of the blue email me that he had the parts and were sending them to the other guy named Josef
so, before the sight got shipped i wanted 4 of the sight frames 3 for me and 1 for another guy and that was months ago and both people the middleman and the owner of the parts stopped communicating
now the story
the new owner of the company has all the parts but as it was told they are buried in a building warehouse room pick one and they have 20 years of stuff on top of them, and he could care less

that is the real story about the parts
now he asked if i want to take them all and i said no
he asked me if there was someone in the states i gave him some ideas
and i gave him the name of the big 3 in the UK Knibbs, Chambers and Protek
i did get my sight but nothing else
sorry for the long story but could not be helped
mike

Seems a shame if they are just wanting to now just off load all the parts, my experience was a lot more positive and alongside all the parts I needed (and recieved), I was basically told anything I needed could be sourced…

I hope someone picks up the parts package and makes them properly available. I’d be tempted myself but doubt I could afford the initial outlay 😅

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM------SMALL SIZE
for the average person making small parts or even working on them is so damn hard
the name of the rivet style is

semi-tubular shoulder rivet
now how to find the right size will be the challenge
https://www.google.com/search?q=sem...M7gH4gfCBwcwLjMuNy40yAdK&sclient=gws-wiz-serp

could the rivet be made with a rivet a spacer tube and be a hollow rivet sure but again it is finding the bits and pieces
but as i have stated it is the size that makes it hard
bad eyes, sausage fingers, not the right tools and then knowing how to make it but not have the ability to do so

so i would call or email sure shot

here is the last price list i got from someone here i forget who
i see no reason a shoulder screw would not work find the screw and thread to hole
