As you do when you get old you turn things over in your head and I started to think of all the guns I've owned.
The very first was a Gat pistol aged 12. It was so under- powered I had to push a pellet through with a knitting needle before firing it ln anger.
Undeterred at 14 I saved up my paper round money and bought a 2nd hand BSA Airsporter .22. I thought it was the dogs whatsits. I could hit a shilling the length of the school football field standing and unsupported. (Well that's how I remember it!). Financial circumstances forced sale.
Then I grew up and got married but despite these handicaps I bought an HW77. Beautiful. Powerful. Accurate. Sold it to a mate who pestered me for it.
Years passed. Got the itch again and looked for a lighter, shorter rifle and got an HW57. It shot well but I didn't like the loading port so sold it on.
I started to muse about PCPs. Being risk averse and tight and wondering if they were for me I decided to dive in with a used RM8. Impressed with power and accuracy- but bit agricultural. I then joined a club and saw and tried the opposition. So I moved the RM8 on and bought an HW100 KT. Oh lor!
What a rifle! Then bought a dive bottle. Then liked the look of the HW100 Bullpup and recently found one on here. So bought it. Love it. This is really a cautionary tale warning people against the addictive nature of this sport (I'm now 71). I know of others who have it worse - a guy at the club has 23 rifles..then pistols...where is it going to end....
