A couple of BSA Meteors

3rd application of Danish oil , its getting there slowly

Personally I would just leave it. Its come up very nicely. The grain looks brilliant. I’ve just finished doing mine using English walnut oil and I won’t be waxing it. Others may say wax it but it’s just down to your preference.
Good job 👍🏼

Last application of oil this morning , I think I have reached a finish that I am happy with.

My question now is after I have left it for a couple of days do I need to give it a waxing ??

Looking good, my friend.👍 If you add wax ( at your discretion) , if ever you wish to touch up the finish , for whatever reason, you'll need it wiped down with white spirit first, to remove wax residue & get it back to a " blank canvas" that will take a top coat.

All finished 😀 took me 3 attempts to rebuild it but this has been a massive learning curve for me . I am very happy with the outcome and she works and fires. I need to pop her through a chrono and pop a scope on it.

Thanks for looking and the advice and especially thankyou to @Martin Bacon for the help via pm's.

Glad to help mate - and delighted for you for getting another old rifle up and running 👍👍

I was able to get to the range today and I am very impressed. She is accurate enough for me at 15 metres

The MK1 arrived back from @Martin Bacon today and looks lovely. Thanks Martin for your help with it.
I am hopefully going to the range tomorrow and really looking forward to shooting it for the first time.

I was planning on stripping all the metal work and then prime and spray also strip and dye the stock but you know what I am leaving as is, it shows its age and patina and just looks great to me.

‘‘tis a lovely old Mk1 and I thoroughly enjoyed getting her up and running for you! Personal choice of course, but I think it’s lovely as it is!
Enjoy John 😃
