How do, just sat thinking and wondering, is .25 becoming more popular than it was. I ask th8s as iv got .25 on the way and wonderd if I'm the only one who hasn't had one and has scratched the itch for one.

Yes I hear they have a drop like a brick but you can get pellets at 20 grain which a .22 shoots ok so it seems more to be had out of the bigger pellet when hunting. Less likely to be affected by wind or does it?.

It's nice to have choices but the issue iv seen is pellwt choices arnt as abundant for the .25 .

I've never had one but I have applied for my FAC recently, with a slot for .25 air.
I'm also toying with the idea of converting my .22 NP-02 to .25 but not looked into what that involves yet.

Yeah i think they would be better for fac but like anything learning trajectory is key and distances. I'm going to have a 24m size scope on my for 30 meter ranges for hunting, but I'm hoping in the near future to get an fac

Or buy a DNT scope with the LRF that calculates the holdover for you, it's like cheating but good cheating :)

Nowt wrong with sub12 .25 👍

I’ve been enjoying the .25 for a few years now and it’s perfect for ratting, and I’m dialled in out to 35yds, Ive a mate who has only ever had .25 airguns and he is bang on out to 45yds, but it’s all he’s ever used.
Don’t worry about trajectory as it soon becomes normal and has long as you put your homework in learning holds it’s cock on, your eyeball rangefinding gets good too, not much over a .22 anyways and closer range it’s negligible

Found this graph, all four calibres running same power and zero

.25 is a fantastic caliber 👍🏻

At fac power it's an awesome tool (if that's an option for you).

Mine was a sub 12 springer - it's obviously different to .22 and .177 but, still a lot of fun to use and get used to. My advice to anyone would be - give it a whirl. You'll either like it or you won't. Same as most things 🙂👍🏻

.25 is perfectly fine is sub12.
I would have thought the better pellets would have been the lighter ones but my springer, a Commy USC 400 is most accurate with superdomes weighing in at 31g. Targets at 30 yards are stacked. Runs at 11.7.
PCP wise I still have a NP02 which is also very accurate out the 35 yards. Not a massive fan of the rifle itself but can’t fault what it does on paper.

Biggest downfall, price of pellets when you start getting through them !

I agree - I've got a sub 12 fpe Mk1 HW90 in .25 flavour and once you get the aim points sorted out its accurate and hits with a real 'thump'.

I've tried both .177 & .22 barrels on this rifle previously and the .25 variant has, by far, the best shot cycle - however that is probably just a reflection on the HW90.

Cheers Steve

I have a Leshiy with both 250mm and 350mm .25 barrels, that gun puts a smile on my face every time I think about it, let alone use it. FTT’s are a hair over 20gr, Marksman are 19gr, JSB (FX/AA/Edgun) upto 25-26gr are my default hunting pellet for 25-30yds. Yes, the pellets travel more slowly, yes the trajectory isn’t as flat as .177, but no, it’s not as bad as you think at our usual sort of ranges, and limited ammo choice isn’t a problem at all.

Luckily I’ve found my .25 Krals like hnftt’s but a visit to the farm someone left their ammo at home and had to use his buds Marksman’s which actually proved as good 👍

Had a buyer yesterday pay for my .25 tx200hc, which i'll post to him next week, i'll get another .25, for me its an excellent & in my opinion makes .22 obsolete, but then that is just my opinion, 177 & .25 everything is covered. Squirrels when they see me get it out of the van just fall out of the trees in anticipation of being shot... Why am i selling it? i have osteoarthritis in my left hand(left handed) & it makes using underlevers awkward, another .25 in break barrel form could be the answer, maybe get Paul Short to make my 80 in to a multi barrel/calibre rifle, we'll see

.25 is an odd calibre, things that don’t work at all well in .177 are generally good in.25, Hades, Marksman and even gimmick pellets like Polymag and Hornets.
