Hunting 2026 Grey Squirrel Count

Following on from last year's very successful count (2025 Grey Squirrel Count), I thought I'd better start a new count for 2026. There is still time to add any last minute 2025 squirrels to last year's figures, so please don't add them here. Over two and half thousand less grey squirrels (noted on last year's thread - lots more taken but not recorded in those numbers) so why don't we see if we can make it to 3000 this year? As per last year, I can't start it off with the first one - but let's get going and eradicate as many as we can! Over to you lot! Best of luck and, oh yes, Happy New Year!
 
I will kick the 2026 count off with these 2 females taken this morning on my small 7 tree only feeder !!

It's been very quiet here recently but I shot a whopper similar about 2 months ago.

2 for me this morning - it was VERY cold, but sunny. Ice sheets everywhere, it rained last night then the clouds cleared and the temperature plummeted. No salt on the lanes either.... it was 10.00 before the first one ventured out.

My tool bar is still not available to use bold or anything. How do I get it back please?

My first squirrel of 2026. A frosty cold dawn followed by bright low sun made the job slightly more challenging. Like @Accuspell I didn't see any activity until mid morning when the sun was well up. This male had draped himself over the junction of a tree branch with trunk and was sunning himself. I saw another laid along a branch doing the same but couldn't take a shot at that one.
Here's to 3000 in 2026.

Happy new year all! 🥳🍾

Mine started with 2 sows on the .22 Gamo springer (1st Jan) and then yesterday evening I was out on the .22 XM1 PCP. 1 very heavy sow then too. Definitely a contender for the biggest sow I’ve had. She was a reyt heffer. 😂

Quick rove about the acreage this afternoon. Dropped 2 but only managed to recover this young boar. The other dropped into some thick brush and I gave up after 10 minutes of searching.
