.20 Caliber 🤔

I own .177 & .22 happy with both calibre and they do the job, curiosity of the .20 arises in Mah mind from time to time, could be in a position soon where I can get my hands on the HW 100 Laminate, I own the HW 110 in .177 & HW 100 in .22, the shot count is pretty descent in the 110 and I have a spare air cylinder for the 100, reason for poss getting the 100 laminate, as I presume the spare cylinder will fit that, giving me a gurrrd shot count,, just throwing it out there on thoughts to the .20

Hi Fox, i have owned a daystate huntsman in .20 cal for5 yrs now,
its very accurate, wacks hard, its my most used airgun for rat/ tree rats
pest control. i use H&N FTT .20 pellets they suit my airgun.

Cheers Brian, Curiosity has had me for a while now, I own a few guns and would never part with them, they serve a purpose but would really Love to add a .20 to the collection because I'm sure it would serve a purpose, like the others,

The 20 is my favourite calibre by far. 'For me', it just delivers the right dosage in the right manner. It just feels 'just right' for hunting and this calibre have produced countless hunting results.

Now, this is not to say it will be right for every shooting situation nor right for what all shooter expects. It is not a magic bullet that some expect. Like any other calibre, there is no doubt of its potential accuracy so long as you pair it with the right pellet. Even an Olympic target rifle will perform badly if it does not like the diet so don't skimp on pellet testing.

The biggest problem for many is having to retool and restock on many tins and type of pellets. Pellet type manufactured and shop choice is now extremely limited. Add to that tins are not cheap making entry a seriously expensive commitment which then lead to magical expectation. Fortunately although there is limited pellet choices, they do work very well.

I do have a hw100kt in 177, and 2xhw110k in 177 &.20cal. The hw100kt is a fabulous gun but on the heavy side. It has the lighter A&M aluminium cylinder fitted. I prefer to take the 110's on a hunt as they are far lighter and still do a great job. Of these 3 guns, my hw110k/20 is the favoured gun; equally accurate but with a more confident knock down.

I have heard great feedback from several members owning the hw100/.20cal. Do a search and you should find their views.

There is some reasoning, and valid too, that the popular calibers should have been .20 and .25 and not .177 and .22

Take everything I say with a grain of salt as I don't yet own a PCP in .20 but I'd very much like to....that said:
A friend once told me, everyone should at least buy and try one .20 caliber. I did and now own 7 break barrels in the caliber. Never know if you'll like it until you do and there are enough fans of the caliber, you should easily be able to sell it on if you decide you don't, especially one that pretty.
There may not be much choice in pellets, but what there is are the cream of the crop and one or even 2 will very likely shoot very well for you.

I've got daystate merlin in. 20 nice to shoot. Just a shame there's not much choice of pellets in .20.

I too was curious about the 0.20 road.
I owned an HW100 and Leshiy in 0.177 and a Steyr ProX in 0.22 so took the plunge, sold my Leshiy barrel and replaced it with a 0.20 one. Must admit I’m glad I did; lovely compromise between the flatter trajectory of the smaller calibre and the stopping power of the larger.
If I could give one tip however……if taking the 0.20 to the range by itself without any of its siblings, check, double check then treble check you’ve got the correct calibre of pellets in your bag. Don’t ask how I know this! If it has been either of the others I’d no doubt have been able to cadge some spare pellets from my shooting buddy but 0.20??

I'm a huge .20 fan, have been for years. Picking up a .20 TX this weekend and my Pro Elite is at LSD having a .20 conversion.
Pellets can be a little more difficult to find but FTT or JSB seem to work well in most things.
