    Printing a scope rail?

I print sight riser blocks vertically, rather than horizontally, if that makes sense - no need for supports. -- Ian

The classic image size of 1024x768 is more than enough on a PC monitor - you can always link out to a larger image if really needed. -- Ian

    PCP With Nitrogen Charge

I seem to remember someone from India, years ago, asking on an American forum whether he could use nitrogen at 200 bar instead of air as he had access to nitrogen, but had difficulty getting compressed air at 200 bar. Apparently the problem he had was that different fittings were used for...

    Push together parts box

Around 150mm tall x 50mm wide x 20mm deep - they're to go in Steyr pistol boxes to hold the supplied screwdrivers. In the past the pistols came in a polystyrene upper and lower with the tools in a plastic bag. Got one pistol box and ordered another, so I'm after two extendable boxes. What do...

Extendable box - that's the description I couldn't think of, thanks. -- Ian

    Push together parts box

Does anyone have a source for the transparent plastic push together parts boxes with ridges inside? Not sure what they called - supplied with Steyr pistols (holds the screwdrivers, hex keys, etc.) and sometimes with drill bits. -- Ian

    3D moderator internals possible?

Although a lot of people print with PLA, I'd suggest using PETG. PETG is slightly more flexible than PLA, better at surviving changes in temperature and easier to sand down and then bring back the colour. Also, on the design front, strength of a part is more down to the number of perimeters...

    3D moderator internals possible?

I haven't experimented with spirals, but if the angle of the spiral is decent (45% or better?) you might be able to print it vertically without supports. Also, perhaps arrange for each part to be completed before moving on to the next part. Unless you have an ultra fast printer, I think you'll...

    3D moderator internals possible?

Also tried an outer gyroid tube with standard pipe foam inner, sized in chambers. -- Ian

    3D moderator internals possible?

One silencer design I've tried, with some success, is a tube with discs made up by 3D printing a gyroid infill with no perimeters. -- Ian

    2026 ISSF rules

Hoping this is of interest to those competing in pistol competitions. The 2026 ISSF rules are out:- https://backoffice.issf-sports.org/getfile.aspx?mod=docf&pane=1&inst=455&file=V2-ISSF-Rules-2026-DRAFT.pdf and there are a few changes that need to be taken into consideration - the rules are...

    3D printing wanted

I can do that - how many do you want? My usual colour is call Galaxy Black - black with a little bit of glitter, but you can have a shiny black if you want. -- Ian

    Help and information required.

Yes, light sanding and an overnight application of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) will make the sanding disappear and bring the colour back. Cost, about 4p per print in PETG and 6p per print in time, etc. (although machine-time cost will depend on how each person works that out). -- Ian

    Help and information required.

Certainly can, however, with a cylinder you'll almost always end up with a 'seam', inside and outside, where the layer changes hight. This may need sanding inside and out, depending on your application. Depending on how well the printer is 'dialled in' it might need more than one print to get...
