Are there any other paddleboarders on this forum?
If so, what do you use, and where do you paddle?
I started 8 years ago on the South coast of Cornwall, mostly near Falmouth.
My fav boards are my 2009 Drops Spirit 10'11 and my 2015 Fanatic Ray. Both hard boards.
Now, I paddle mostly in the sea on the Northeast coast, mostly near/at Saltburn.
This year, my SUP surfing has really come on.

Are there any other paddleboarders on the forum?

First started SUP about 10 years, rarely do it rivers, always on the Sea. Anywhere on the South Devon coast mainly, long as the Sea is flat Im out regardless of temperature, had a glorious paddle couple of New Year’s Day ago, -4 but blue sky and Sea like a millpond!

Nice looking board. The south coast of Devon shares a lot of similarities with Cornwall. So many places to explore with lots of estuaries and creeks. At home, the paddle from Gylly beach to Meanporth is a good one, if you ever get the chance.
Like you, I try to get on the water as much as possible.

Looks really good, Shawn.
Since coming up the North, rivers and lakes are more accessible. Some friends took me for a paddle on the tidal part of the Tees just above the barrage. What a great way to explore the countryside. Either with a paddleboard or a canoe.
 
Got really into paddle boarding during Lockdown years. It was great way to get onto the water , and kept surfing fitness up when the waves were a just a distant dream. Seemed like at the time 50% of the UK were doing it.

Still have the Hatha Board I bought in the garage, but sadly life and time gets in the way :(
 
Not sure how I missed this thread but have SUP'd for getting on 8 years after sitting on the cliff at Old Harry Rocks and watching a couple paddle over the bay.
The Thames Estuary isnt quite as salubrious but love a sunrise paddle. Because of the way the various creeks and mudbanks work on a low tide you end up a mile off Southend seafront paddling parallel to the shore towards the end of the Pier and if your lucky have the seals come join you. And all you hear is the birds.
Not into the SUP surfing but quite a few in the club do it.

I generally paddleboard at Alderford Lake except for a couple of weeks a year when I’m in Cornwall. It’s something I wish I could do more often. The two weeks in Cornwall is always great to wake up, walk down to the beach and then spend an hour or two on (and in) the water. Not as easy to actually stand up on the ocean as it is on a lake! Going to try it on the beach where my lad surfs next year.
 
I bought 1 , end of last year, for our hols in Weymouth but the weather ( as always for us on our UK hols) was horrendous and blowing a hooley.

Looking forward to giving it a go this yaer
 
Just thought I'd share this, I recently purchased a new electric inflatable rechargeable sup pump. After a bit of research I settled with the Outdoor Master Shark 3. This is a two stage pump that inflates a paddle board in around 4.5 minutes. It has the battery capacity to inflate up to four sup boards from one full charge. As a Paddle sport touring leader/instructor I often have several boards that need to be inflated and this pump has made a great difference. May be worth a look if you are a regular user or have several boards to inflate. It sure beats the stirrup pumps that come with most boards.

It takes practice to balance on the sea, but it's so worth it for the places you can get to explore.
If you get over to Falmouth, in calm wind free conditons, the bay is an amazing place to paddle.

We stay in between a couple of small fishing Ports and I can just about manage to stand in the shelter of the port. Once I get out onto open water it’s pretty much a kneeling paddle board! You are right you do get to some amazing places to explore.
