Can you help me please this BSA quarry scope has come up in conversation here before since then I have purchased the lovely Webley Vulcan mk.1 ,
The stock needs a tidy up but other wise it's quite nice , so now I do have a rifle with a scope rail problem is I don't know what mounts I need , I did purchase some Webley high mounts and although the right size the profile for the actual scope rail was wrong and they didn't work / fit ( I have sent them back )
The scope was given to my granddaughter, and so we would like to use it , I realise it's probably not a good match , I know absolutely nothing about scopes mounts and have never even shot a scoped rifle...

That's a big old scope for a Vulcan but it ll work , i got a 4x40 nikko sterling siver crown on my mark 1 .177 vulcan.
My mark 1afaik is std 11mm sort of dovetail your typical bisley / sportsmach range right stuff should fit the dove tail, a ring is a ring just get 25mm or 30mm etc. the old HWs and BSAs in some models have 13mm ish mounts not aware webley went down that road but could have i am no guru. Cleverer folk than me will be here to add more perspective on this in due course i am sure. all the best.

Oh thanks that's the first hurdle I wasn't even sure it would go on there - you are right it's a big old monster - my plan is to visit a local merchant find some mounts that will work and just play with it ... learn the ropes before we invest in the right combo a HW 30 FS with a scope to suit
The Granddaughter loves to shoot the Vulcan is also too big/ heavy for her ..

In all seriousness, it's difficult to tell from the angle, but with that mounted and allowing the right eye relief, can you even break the barrel to load it?

And for mounts, good old Sportsmatch, probably mediums (but check height as don't know your objective size).

Full disclosure: I have some available in sales right now 😬

Was posted here somewhere the other day Ron Dailey motorcycles in barnsley are sell ing HW30s at £220, not checked prices generally but that sounded a good price . have a ask about the HW30 like all HWs are very good value and if you get a retailer who is discounting them a bit its even better. Just sayin.

thanks so I have checked that I can load it and get enough eye relief, I agree it's too big really it's a Farmer John a family member who gave this to Bonnie and basically she didn't want to hurt his feelings by not using it other wise I would of bought something better suited .. which I might well do ..

So cheers you gave me the inspiration and as we can see it's now on there - I popped up to our local R&B sporting they sorted it and fitted those high mounts and obviously agreed it's too big and not a good scope either !!
However it's on and so we can have a mess around plinking once we zero it - the eye relief is just about doable, while I was up there I had a look at the lovely HW 30 no wonder people rant on about those I nearly traded the old Vulcan in 🤠
My will power held out we will save that for Christmas..

Yes a HW30 for Christmas ... Now! That sounds like a nice plan.
Ps IYTMA don't get rid of the Vulcan you will only regret it.

thanks mate
Guess what :
I have just taken the Hubble back off !!! - I did manage to zero it and put a 100 marksman pellets through it with targets at 17 yards and it was impressive ,
But it was uncomfortable to shoot on two counts it was too heavy / unbalanced and the eye relief was on the ragged edge so as many people did say here it was pushing it , a journey worth making though as I understand it all a bit more now I will revisit maybe with a nice sensible little scope quite possibly the 4 x 40 Nikko sterling you use or a little Hawk .
To be honest the lovely Vulcan is so accurate on open sights and a pleasure to shoot and we only have 17 yards to play with in the garden - for the Club it will definitely be that HW 30 for sure they are quality for the money ...

OH YES the Vulcan isn't going anywhere I love it
AND It's the end of the Hubble telescope 🔭 chapter It's going back to Farmer John ..... 😍
