Morning all.

Over the last few months I've been toying with the idea of replacing the standard Weihrauch moderator with the shorter and slightly heavier A&M Twink MK2.
The only reason I'm considering doing this Is because I like the look of the slightly thicker and shorter/stubbier Twink Moderator. The sound reduction though Isn't that important to me because I've heard many people say that the Twink Mk2 Is just as quiet as the Weihrauch, and in some cases even quieter.

However, the rifle that the Twink Moderator will be fitted to will be my 2013 full size HW100s. And because the HW100s Is a heavy rifle, and especially when fitted with my DNT Zulus V2 I'm in 2 minds whether to actually replace the standard moderator or not. Because I don't use a sling and I'm not as strong or fit as I used to be, lol.

And here lies my query. According to Google, if a lighter moderator is replaced with a heavier one the weight balance will then be shifted backwards towards the shooter which will then give a less front heavy rifle. But how can this be? Surely adding more weight to the end of an airgun barrel WOULD make the rifle more front heavy, wouldn't It?

Here are the 2 different weights of the standard Weihrauch Moderator and the Twink MK2.

Standard HW Mod : 110 grams.

Twink MK2 : 160 grams.

1. The Weirauch will be quietest

2. What you posted quotes a lighter moderator, like the carbon fibre one.

3. If you want lighter, get a lighter gun, nv sight and moderator.

The HW100 is not the lightest around and you will do well to out perform it without spending your hard earned.

The lightest and quietest moderators are made by Bl4de on hear (In my opinion).

There are others on here that make excellent moderators though I have only tried Bl4de moderators.

1) Why would anyone need to ask Google? 🤯

2) A heavier moderator will obviously make the rifle more front heavy.

3) You can’t beat a HW mod. They’re light, quiet, well made and good value.

4) The only reasons to change from a HW mod are looks and length, yes there are shorter mods but unless shooting from a hide or in dense cover it’s a bit of a non-issue, and looks are subjective.

Just modify the internals on a hw mod, much better with more weight at the front to stop muzzle flip but still looks like a standard moderator. Added approximately 150-200g and made no difference to the sound or poi.

I don’t think the OP actually wants more weight, just the looks - and the mod they like the look of just happens to be heavier.

There’s no muzzle flip on a PCP…

The concern is if the extra weight will affect the balance of the rifle, which it will, slightly.

Exactly this. I was just wondering whether the slight weight difference/balance would be noticeable or not while carrying the rifle around on my permission 🤔

I was told by A&M that the titch was made for a pistol Silencer and the best to use for a Rifle is the Twink there are no Internal difference between the anodized mrk 11 and the Carbon mrk 11 other than the Carbon finish which would make the Carbon one the lightest I had a Blade Silencer made to my size which for the rifle was 4"x1.1/4" superb little Silencer Ian that is Blade is no longer on this Forum as i know could be wrong but i do know you have to reach him on MEWE

Depends what you are used to, had a front heavy .25 for a few years and thats what i was used to. Then got a CF one made and thought i was waving it around like a white stick. Wrapped lead to centre the balance to where i felt more comfortable, same guns differant calibers felt so differant.

Dont think changing the moderator is going to make that much difference, the guns heavy. The solution is get a lightweight air cylinder, it makes a massive difference! I used a A&M light wieght cylinder on all mine, massive difference!

A couple of years ago I did actually change to a brand new Ratworks full length cylinder. But to be honest, I can't really say that I've noticed much difference in the rifles overall weight while carrying It around my permission 🤔

The A&M cylinder makes alot of difference! Another option get a bullpup style rifle I can recommend an Airmaks krait L, and buy a viper three point sling so you carry the rifle across your chest I can walk for hours no problem!
