Superb accuracy from slugs in sub12...

Single shot..
The pellet probe is likely trying to chamber the slug at a jaunty angle, which is why some airgun makers offer slug probes. In addition, accuracy can be lost from the slug not being pressed partly into the rifling prior to launch - due to a gap between the slug and the start of the rifling. By dropping the slug in like you're doing, the slug is likely getting caught by the rifling, where it should ideally be launched from.

I have to say I do feel there is a certain negative undertone to the replies in this thread. Which I find odd. Like people don't approve of someone trying their best, indeed going above and beyond, to find some definitive answers to a question many people are curious about.

I find I am a bit sad and ashamed and not like the usual friendly AGF attitude. It's hardly encouraging is it 😪
Reminds me of the lynch mob that rode outa dodge with burning torches in the dead of night when a few members started liking tactical style air rifles .
Grumpy old men set in their ways types that baulk at those that dare push the envelope and have the gall to sway away from blued steel and timber.
A little simplistic but the shuttlecock is a very stable form and has served for decades .But hit it as hard as you can , it’s not the most aerodynamically efficient object, creating bags of drag.
I’m interested to explore something better and find the relationship between slug , barrel , energy, fascinating.
All power to those that seek to continually improve . Regardless of the doubters and nay sayers , the cream will always rise to the top .Hence why tacticool ergonometry now rules the roost , efficiency !.

I have a question @Sub12slug I really like the idea of a sub 12 pesting slug, but as a .22 shooter I feel I am less likely to be able to find something workable.

I’ve dipped my toes in a couple of times which leads me to my question, both slugs I’ve tried are loose in the barrel, is this required because they are slugs or do I need bigger slugs??

My latest experiment was with a 20gr .218 Zan slug….very disappointing indeed!!

My go-to pellet of choice for plinking and pesting is the Hades 15.89gr which provides good accuracy and stopping power.

The Hades also fit nice and snuggly in the barrel with a very light push. If I tipped the gun up with the breach open it stays put, the slugs fall out?

never used slugs before ,so I have no clue on them at all 🙃, anyway a mate of mine also a shooter decided to have a pellet clearout (.177 pulsar ,Barra 8 holy grail pellet ,250 at Donny ,will not use anything else 👍)
so I got everything he does not need 😁, including the slugs in the photo, are they any good 🤔I use a .177 ultra se 1000009203.webp
