Took a wee bit of waiting. But now it's here. Can't wait to get a scope on and weather to clear. Not going out in the rain with this beauty. Thanks to Steve for the chance to buy her.
The gun has an interesting history as outlined by @Rotherham Owl.
One aspect about it that I personally have some mixed feelings about is that Bill Sanders had it updated to the final style of bolt housing and bolt used on these instead of the original cast steel bolt housing and different shaped bolt knob on the earliest examples.
The black chromed variant as seen here is more aesthetic, but it does distort the originality of the piece, don't get me wrong it is still a nice rifle though.
I have two Shamal's in my collection, one is the highest serial number I have yet seen at number 1013, the other is the first of Dave Welham's Airmasters 88 'Kompac' conversion, which featured in an AGW article (albeit in a left hand stock then and with a more prototype muzzle brake), this action does not have a serial number.
Would love to have one fac rated at some point. Be some flat shooting vermin control. I've another that I would probably get converted. Not this example
