Just got a new Sigma 150-600 for the Sony, could do with cheering up a bit, can't wait to get out and about with it.

Had the same lens for my Nikon d750 and got some fantastic pictures of pine martens in really low light conditions, they’re a good lens 👍

Very nice, I had the Contemporary version on my D500, nice bit of kit and your Sport one will be a step up

Is your Manfrotto the XPRO 2 way head? I'm currently looking at adding a new head and can't decide whether to go 2 way or gimbal for my Tamron 150-500mm.
Do you use yours successfully for moving wildlife?

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but my personal preference for moving wildlife would be a gimbal or hand held, I was usually wandering about so hand held mostly.

I do use a ball head with the plate at 90deg on a monopod as well for a more mobile set up, also works well on a tripod, like this.

I have a Sigma 150-500 on my Nikon although I have only used it a few times. If I remember correctly general advice is to turn off vibration reduction on the lens when tripod mounted but I don't recall the details.

It is the XPRO 2 way head, its not bad for a cheapish video head but like Wozza says above, a gimbal gives you much more control.

Thanks Wozza, my dad passed away just five weeks ago and now this, life eh Wozza, not always an easy journey.
Wow, once again sorry to hear that, not much I can say!
But you're right, life just kicks you when you're down sometimes, but you just have to keep getting back up and moving forwards.

Absolutely Wozza, but yeah I hope to get out soon and try the lens out, I have stood on the back step and took a few shots at the bird feeder and considering I just stuck it on the body and pointed it straight at the birds it looked pretty decent.

Congratulations on your new telephoto lens, with the brighter weather on its way time to get out and do some shooting 😁

I'm sure you'll get some excellent shots with it!

I have a Manfrotto CXPRO4 with several heads but my go to is a Wimberley WH-200 for birds and motorsport if I’m using a big lense 👍
Always wise to go with a known brand like Wimberley , Gitzo, Benro et al when you have the heavyweights on a Gimbal.
The Wimberley monogimbal head is a cracker on a monopod for sports and birds.
