**The AGF Friendly 6-Yard Pistol & Rifle Target Competition for April**

I would like to take this opportunity to invite you all to the:

AGF Friendly 6-Yard Combined Pistol & Rifle Target Competition!!

This month’s comp will once again be open to both rifles and pistols and shot over 6 yards, using the official NSRA 6 Yard targets. The targets are different for rifles and pistols so you will shoot the target relating to whatever you are shooting with. I will put a separate post underneath this one with details of the targets to use.

Each competitor is allowed 10 shots per card (giving a maximum theoretical score of 100), and each competitor is allowed to submit up to 4 cards in the month. Scoring is inward for both rifles and pistols. The competition will run to midnight on last day of the month.

As before, in terms of what guns to use - it’s entirely “Run wot you brung”. So, any rifle or pistol, open sights or optics, springer, PCP, SSP, CO2, one handed, two handed, off-hand, rested or whatever. All I ask is that you state in your entries the following:

Username
Pistol or rifle
Pistol / rifle type (including PCP, springer etc)
How you’ve shot it (Off-hand, rested, one or two handed etc)
Score

So as an example:
Jimbobs999
Rifle
HW35 - Springer
Off-hand
Score - 80

Don’t forget to include a photo of your target card and please show off your rifles and pistols too!

I will split the rifles and pistols into relevant classes when I publish the scores. I’ll aim to publish an update every weekend and then the final scores at the end of the month. If you want to enter both pistol and rifle classes you are most welcome - you are allowed 4 entries per month for each.

I think that’s it. Any questions, give me a shout. Let the target shooting commence - good luck everyone!

6 Yard Pistol Targets

6 yard pistol targets are available from the NSRA shop:
Here
I have also attached a version below that can be printed on the back of a standard 17cm target. For clearest scoring, I find it’s best to shoot 5 shots per target and submit both targets as your 10-shot entry.

If you print your own targets, please check the sizing of the target. The black section of the target should measure just under 31mm in diameter (30.89mm to be precise!). As well as the version that I’ve attached, there are other versions available on the “6 yard Air Pistol” thread.

Any questions, give me a shout. Otherwise happy shooting!

6 Yard Rifle Targets

6 yard rifle targets are available from the NSRA shop:
Here

I have also attached a version below that can be printed on the back of a standard 17cm target. On the printed version, I usually shoot 2 shots per target but if you are a dead-eyed hotshot it might be best to shoot one per target and submit 2 cards.

If you print your own targets, please check the sizing of the target. The black section of the target should measure 16mm in diameter. Please note that, for rifles, the lowest score available is ‘4’. Anything below that scores zero!

Any questions, give me a shout. Otherwise happy shooting!

After last month’s success with my HW75 I thought I’d try to replicate it with my HW45, how naive was that? It kicks like a mule, smokes like a chimney and after every shot the scope’s POI seems to have changed. I shot this one card and it’s gone back into the cupboard until I decide what to do it it.

Having relegated the 45 into the back of the cupboard out comes the HW75 again. I wasn’t disappointed. After this card that too has gone back into the cupboard. I might pull it out at the end of the month to try again but in the mean time I’ll be concentration on standing.

The pretty colours are to help acquire each black more easily, the third photo shows what I’ve dome to the ocular lens.

Agreed Steve but… the NSRA rules state a shot only has to touch an inner line to count (the higher value). Whilst it’s touching the inner ring it’s touching more of the outer ring that’s why I’ve gone for the lower score - and an 88 is easier to improve on (just) than an 89 ;). One thing I am going to do tomorrow is to (re)check the dimensions of my rings (😲).

Thanks for your comment though, much appreciated.

Given the ‘is it/isn’t it’ I’ve created at #7 I’ve rechecked the dimensions of my home printed target. I’m pleased to say sizes are as near as damn-it is to swearing. What needs to be done however is the thickness of the lines, they need reducing. I’ll attempt to fix that when I next print my targets.

Below is half an NSRA target held against my home produced target.
