If ex biathlete Magdalena Neuner was in charge of training new shooters. Would interest in the sport increase ?

* Invite people to the range with you, it's intimidating going alone especially your first time
* Be kind, patient, and helpful to beginners
* Get people interested in competition shooting, not by being competitive but by showing them how they improve over time
* Don't be gun snob or cliquey
* Lend your gear to people so they can see if suits them before they invest

and maybe most importantly of all

* Don't alienate half of the population with this kind of nonsense

I went to a localish club a number of years back, all was ok until I mentioned I just wanted to shoot old springers at that point they couldn’t really be bothered and wanted to get rid of me a quickly as possible so never went back.

Remove a lot of the politics from the club arena, too many older shooters saying they know best.
Making time to support visitors to the club and ensuring they have a good time should be the priority
Shooting sports at grass root levels tends to be mainly the province of older shooters
We need an A, B or even C lister to mention their interest and the participation level would jump
Unfortunately politics and media narrative dissuade this from happening

Can't believe the attitudes here; you ask what can be done to bring more people to the sport, post a picture that most women would find off-putting, then make out it's everyone else's problem.

The biggest hurdle this sport faces is too many people treating it like an old boys club and not actually thinking that they may be the problem.

Be welcoming to all, considerate of all and maybe things will grow.

Just an idea...

Half naked women "nonsense" ? Homer face palm
genuinely yes... being serious for a moment, if we want shooting as a sport to grow (or at the very least not fade into obscurity / illegality) which I presume we all do then the bottom line is we need more / younger people in the fold. This kind of rhetoric just isn't really tolerated in other sports precisely because it pushes people away by painting a picture of an old boys club and younger people (not just women) are broadly repulsed by it.
