Im new on here but not to air guns. Got hold of a Sabre 2nd hand cheapish. Accuracy hmmn 1 and half inch groups standing offhand. Took off the silencer after gentle heat with hot air gun and block of wood and hammer. Crown is not good. Time for the hacksaw etc. Put picture on for you all to have a laugh at.🤣

clean it up, push a few pellets through, see how it feels on the choke and also examine the pellets for rifling marks, see if they are reasonably equal after leaving the crown, and not too deep but not too shallow... How does the cycle of the gun feel with recoil, whats the trigger like? is it consistent on the chrono these can all affect accuracy ... I'd hold off with a barrel chop until last resort..... Unless you just want to experiment with it regardless then get chopping with that hacksaw 🤣

Tim,all good points. Not as smooth as my tx200 or HW30 that's for sure. Already had it apart and polished ends of spring, extra thrust washers which have preloaded spring 5mm, regreased and trigger sears polished. Waiting on a setback Rekord trigger blade. Went from 11.2 to 11.8 and does have a bit of a kick. Going to reduce it to 11 and do some messing around with transfer port size and piston liner. The 2 marks inside the barrel concern me. School holidays now so might take me longer than planned to get it sorted.

Recently got an express myself, that someone had cocked out of the stock & damaged the piston liner, sorted that, then fitted a standard HW trigger blade, which has transformed the trigger, also the power went up from 8.5, to nearly 10.5 once i sorted the piston liner, not bad for a cheapish gun

Luckily I'd read on this forum about not cocking without stock on. Bet it made a lovely sound before you fixed it. I don't like how the pin rubs on the stock to cock. Must be a better solution.

Yep, sounded like you were crushing a bag of crisps!, they said in the shop there's something not right, but other than the cocking issue it seems ok!, lol it was cheap enough to take a gamble on, worked out well, i keep it handy for the occasional pest problem, saves a decent rifle running the risk of being knocked

Hello, You might be able to sort that with a round head brass screw in a drill and some grinding paste, Do a search on here, Then buy a cheap slip on silencer

That's why I bought mine as well. Things nearly as heavy asy HW80 was.A few inches off the barrel will bring the weight down though.

I'm going to give that a try when I get time. Was originally going to get another silencer for it. Shot it with silencer off and it's not garden friendly. In believably the original ugly silencer does make a difference and screws back on now.

Clean up the crown with a brass screw head and while you're at it, give the bore a good polish with some autosol.

Yes,I should clean the barrel. Never tried autosol but have heard about it,will give it a go as well.

I found this thread randomly about crown polishing if it's of any help. There is loads of advice regarding polishing.

Did a quick barrel clean and touched up crown. Still needs some more work.Took preload off spring, now only 9.87 ftlbs.Super smooth firing though.Circled group was at 20m offhand but leaning against a wall.Bottom 2 shots before I adjusted scope.
