Gravestone in St John Churchyard, Acaster Selby, North Yorkshire - the only match I could find, and the date of death (1950) matches the plaque. Perhaps it was commemorative and the rifle passed on to a brother ? Church / parish likely to have historic records.

Edited my posts as i realised the math didnt math with what i thought was his mother. Would have meant she was about 50 when she had him :D

Mothers name was definitely Johnson though, and theres the entry page andd line in the registrars book, so that should be a solid lead to see who registered him and their details then work from there.

These are the 2 places the birth and death were registered so they stayed fairly local to york

If he was born in June 1935, as the grave suggests, June 1949 he would have turned 14 years old and be able to own his own airgun.
I was also bought my first airgun when I turned 14, along with many of my mates. It was almost a rite of passage growing up.
I think that the dates on the plaque represent the time the gun spent in the boy's possession before he sadly passed away. Perhaps the plaque commemorated the boy's most precious possession and was placed by a grieving relative to honour his memory.

You lot ought to give up your day jobs and start new careers as ‘Heir Hunters’ - even Hercule Poiroit would be impressed !
Wait till someone rips someone else off and see what comes out, they are like terriers on a Rat's nest. They will even find the inside leg measurement of the con man :ROFLMAO:
There are people who know the know on here including the mods
