The first top ring does not line up properly, the pattern on the top rings should (IMHO) have rounded corners, to match the curves everywhere else.
The whole "edge of pattern" jars with me, does not need to be straight, it would work well as sweeping curves.
So brilliant vision, 7/10 for execution.
If I ever afforded such a device, I'd have to be smitten.

Definitely a case of form over function. Looks like it was cast in a sand pit and a chid was let loose with the etch a sketch

Nope from me too, not a nice design at all. Looking at Ernst Apel mounts I bet they are rather expensive, I’ve got a set of old 13mm steel ones on one of the hw35’s and those are rather pricey secondhand……dom
