Where are all the BSFs?

This is my S80 in .177........I've never seen another on for sale
When I saw the picture in AGW I wanted one , I went to Manchester air guns to get one . On arrival the rifle was out of the box and in the rack . I instantly disliked this particular example when I saw it ,the finish was poor and the stock was a terrible light colour .
Unfortunately they only had the one so I didn’t get it .
I later thought I should’ve just got it anyway like I normally did .

I have an S70 In 177 with a kassnar 3x9 scope don't hardly use it but it's nice to have !

Although ive never fired it since ive owned it as it does'nt seem to latch when cocked so ijustput it away and forgot about it until now

They had a reputation for being bang on the power limit in the late 70’s but, they looked like a hangover from the 1950’s and I don’t think the finish was anywhere near as good as FWB or HW so, people voted with their feet.

50+ years ago I used to drool over the 54's......especially the Match.

A good BSF/Bavaria 55, 60 & 70 in the export version should make 800 fps when it was new

Love the character of them though! But yes in reality , I totally agree - the capabilities of eg FWB Sport, HW’s etc of the same period were probably better. So many fond memories though of my later teenage years with my S70 vs the rabbits !!
My.177 s70 is a very nicely mannered gun running a standard replacement mainspring from chambers at about 10 ft lb. I replaced the old leather breech seal with an o ring but it's still on the original leather piston seal. Love the well made open sights on them to use .

I got this from a mate for a nice chap called Dave who was a member on the BBS and the old Airgun forum too, I posted it to him in Wales, He was mates with Welsh Willie, Will reblued it for Dave and tuned it up from memory 👍

Sorry about the pic, It was my pic that was in Imgur but I can't access it anymore, Found the pic on Google but it disappears when it's clicked on so I just saved it but it doesn't turn out true to size!! 🫤

They were unheard of in the northeast when I grew up , I first saw them in airgun world l,vate 70's when it first came out & wanted one ever since. I finally got my s70 from welsh willie for my 50 th birthday from my wife & son. It was very well used had been used by a scout
troope with most of the bluing worn off the barrel & front of cylinder but the stock was surprisingly in good condition. Fitted a new spring & it popped off the front of the piston after a few shots. The spot welds holding it on failed. Fixed that then the trigger link joining the two halves broke. I was very lucky to get a piston & trigger from a kind bbs member for a few quid as spares are rare as hens teeth for them. Still got the unused piston as I welded up my old one myself to get it going again. So they are not as bulletproof as some claim but nice lightweight springers ( the break barrels obviously)

My venom B55 never made more than 10ft lbs in .22
