My W W Greener 1936 , 16 bore with rare 30” barrels with 2 3/4 chambers. FH50 so 50 Guineas in 1936 and ordered by someone from Tokyo. There is the normal Greener address on the straight rib and then a Japanese name which is thought to be a woman’s name

Greener were a bit special !
The Greener air rifle made in limited numbers in the 1930’s was a high quality piece.
Here are some pics of one.

It was still available almost until Webley bought the gunmaking side of Greener. They used to assemble them from a supply of parts if a trade dealer ordered an air rifle. I heard from a reliable source of one supplied in the white to someone who worked there on the engineering side. In the white with no markings it was later bought by a now deceased collector who had it engraved or etched in some way and blued. It could be yours? :D :)

As a fan of the Duke ( John Wayne ) didn't he use a Greener Shotgun in Big Jake?

£38 was many months wages for most people in 1936. Equivalent to about £8,000 now I guess.

About 40 or so years ago I had and used a Greener Martini action 12 bore marked on the side City of Birmingham Police Riot Gun. I don't know how old it was but at a guess maybe early 1920's when the government of the time feared trouble from the lucky few returning from war and not finding the promised land of milk and honey. That Greener was an indestructible workhorse.
