Reximex Ixia (throne gen 2) mods etc.

I've read this with great interest as I've not to long ago purchased an Ixia myself which had been someone's project at one time so my son stripped it down and completely resealed it under the watchful eye of dad (bearing in mind he's 32 and a very good engineer) he pointed out a few issues with it but I just wanted it resealed for the time being.

Roll on a couple of months and I had a brain wave to purchase a FX superior liner in .22 as I thought it would be good for another project. But after speaking with some Oracles it came to light my idea wouldn't work so I'm left with a barrel.

Then I see this and wonder if I can do something similar with the barrel but keep it sub 12 and the idea of using the rear of the existing barrel is ingenious as I was pricing up parts on the Human site unsure of what I would really need, but now the ideas are flowing, many thanks( I may be giving you a shout in the near future)
Keep us posted, I think there is some more info in my project thread, you can use most 14mm barrels in the Ixia, I used an old FTP900 barrel and just re machined to fit It's now very accurate.

Hi, thanks for your intrest in my ixia project. It can be a sub12 with the fx 700mm barrel liner, it would just need to be tuned accordingly. I do not think, however, that a 700mm barrel on a sub12 would be beneficial. You would have to use more air for that pellet to be pushed out and if you are going to use slugs, which is what the 700mm fx liners are really designed for, it would be quite a bit more air and reduced shot count with no real benefit. Hope this helps. Good luck with your project.

I bought one a few years back that had been messed with. The Hammer Spring had been packed out with 4 or 5 washers. The valve mechanism in the plenum had come apart and there was a bit of an oring floating around in there. I fitted a B&K spring, resealed the gun and rebuilt the valve. Removed the anti tampers and adjusted the regulator to 110 if I remember rightly. It shot lovely after that. My mate still has it and no issues.

As you can see from my thread, I did away with the original hammer adjuster and threaded a new one from the rear. The original only gave about 5mm of adjustment on the cam. The regulator on mine was very slow in recycling which is why I ended up opening up the inlet port very slightly. It now only takes approx 2-3 seconds.(y)

Something I noticed about the ixia. The scope rail is not machined correctly. The picatinny section has very rounded edges to the 45 degre sides. When tightening the scope rings they would twist and lean to one side slightly. I discovered that the rail was to blame. All it took was to machine a very small 45 degree bevel on the top side so that it would form more of a point. The scope rings would then clamp properly and pull down flat to the rail. The 11 mm dovetail was no issue.

I also trimmed the length of the rail so that a big scope like the alpex 50T night vision scope could sit lower and further back.

Hi all. Had to do some more work on the valve pin today and when I tightened the rear block back up nice and tight it was now overshooting the mark I had set. Reason for this had to be that the threads have worn in and therefore needing a fraction more of a turn to tighten. I thought of loosening off just a fraction as the orings would still seal just fine. Trouble is with that, there would be the possibility of the block moving during use. So I found myself having to shim the port cap by 0.1mm to get the right position an have it all tight. I really don't like this setup where there is no adjustment, very bad flaw. The exact position of rotation is critical for the barrel to be parallel with the scope rail, too much will result in barrel front end pointing in the opposite direction and too little visa versa. The other thing is I found myself having to grip the plenum to remove a cap. Didn't want to grip it in vice even with protection so had to make an internal expanding arbor. This, I can see being, a time consuming process every time it needs to come apart.
