Just browsing the forum as quite new to it , ( its amazing btw) and saw some references to Pete's air gun farm in Essex. As i live in Kent could i get any views on if this is a good visit. I'm disabled but can get about on my scooter. i am pretty new to shooting (8 months), so looking for a day out to try to get some practice in. I'm in a very helpful, but busy club but never seems to be enough time as the club offers lots of disciplines. i have watched the you tube video it looks an awesome place just need the experience and views of the members on here please.

thanks in advance

I used to go few years back, but moved a bit further away now, so go somewhere else now. It was always a good place, used to have two large indoor barns, two outdoor spaces and a short pistol range.
You would need to do an induction, pre arranged with the staff, but only takes about 15 mins.
From memory its all pretty flat, so access should be ok, but as I say its been a while. Just phone Pete and ask about access, etc, they are all pretty friendly.
Theres a few others on here who still go to Petes, so will probably chime in with some advice tomorrow if you are lucky.... Cheers

Definitely worth a visit, but you do need to do the induction as mentioned above, although I'd say it's 45 mins.
Can take a few weeks to get booked in for an induction so call early.
Ranges are excellent and price covers the whole day with discounts for second visits within the week, after 5pm and Sundays.
Open 24/7.

As others have mentioned book an induction, and you need 2 passport photographs, it is flat so you shouldn't have any problems using a scooter, I don't walk very well, and it's been fine for me. The toilet is disabled friendly with a ramp, it is £19 to shoot that covers you until midnight that day. It can get very busy of a weekend, there is a shop and vending machines neither are cheap though.

Other members are friendly, If you want someone to shoot with drop me a pm and maybe if I am well enough I would be able to meet you there.

I go quite often it's a great site with good facilities.A while back I saw an induction group doing the tour and there was a wheelchair user amongst them,so you should be fine. All the details are on the website and there are videos on YouTube you can watch.iask about toilet access if I was you cos I think there's a ramp to navigate.

Hi @Taffster1360 you need to book an induction with Tony gee and he is there Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Saturday 👍 New price list

I joined a few months ago, it’s a great place, friendly people and yes great wheelchair access, there was a shooter there last week in a small electric chair. I tend to go once a week after 5 and Sunday just to keep cost down, once there I shoot 3-4 hours. Got chatting to a guy last week from other side of Gatwick he was there 8 hours.only ever once been there on my own and tha was half an hour. Doesn’t matter when you get there, always someone else who got there before you.

Yeah that’s me lol 😜
Ps that’s my table

I was there yesterday as I hadn’t been down for a while. It’s an excellent place, and easy to get to from Kent (assuming Dartford isn’t being an absolute pain). On a clear run you’ll do it in 30 mins from the crossing

There’s snack machines on site, and the shop is fully stocked. Be mindful that the shop is extremely convenient being on site, but as a result the prices reflect that convenience…

I’ve rocked up at all times of the day and never found the place too busy, and in most cases it’s nicely quiet

It’s definitely worth being a member, especially if you need to just sit down and pellet test for a few hours as there’s nothing like it around

Wow, 45 mins! He must have done a "proper" risk assessment since when I did my induction, which admittedly was a few years back, which basically involved a short walk around the farm and advice to not walk in front of tractors or mess with the farm equipment and taking a quick photo of the first aid/emergency/accident board, job done. Lol...

It involves walk around the 4 ranges, safety message, making up of member cards and checking forms, taking payment and a bit of chit chat. I did mine with a group of about 4-5 people. It was well run, and didn’t feel like a waste of time at all. Just hard to book as you need to call a mobile, lot leaving messages the website needs a real update and they don’t take emails. But once you get going it’s a really good range and very easy to use. Turn up when you want, drop payment in a post box or transfer by phone or if shop open Mon, Wed or Fri then walk in and pay by card.

Thanks for the info.Looks good set up and Nice Daystate BTW

Thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement. will look into getting membership there and getting a day out organized. sounds as though they are friendly and helpful just what im looking for

Really fancy a trip there, I'm Gatwick way too, have to properly suss out the route and borrow the wifes car as the rifles don't suit the bikes.
It’ll be easy. M25 through Dartford, off at the Chelmsford junction and come off for Hylands Park. The only thing to watch out for is the new speed limit by Hylands House is 40!
