I was thinking of sending my HW98 to The Rat Works for an advanced tune up.
As this would cost close to £300 inc there and back courier I was wondering if anyone has had any experience of these people?

You can get complete new internals from a well known tuner for that kind of money, you will never get anything like that back on it, do a bit of research on here and see what you can get (y)

FWIW, They charge £195 tuning, £20 red super red seal and about £60 courier service there and back.
Advanced Tune

Complete strip, service and degrease
- Remove burrs and parts polished.
- Custom top hat and spring guide to reduce spring noise.
- Make sure trigger is set correctly
- Delrin piston rings
- Compression tube honed
- Delrin ring fitted to outside of compression tube
- Lightweight piston modification

The bold items only apply to 77/97's.

I'd talk to @Nick simmons

£300 - That's Madness!!Homer face palm

Actually, it's disgusting... Head bang 65

I can't believe they can, with all good conscience, charge people that much for what equally good tuners (eg shaun3y) can do for under half the price....

I raised this recently on the forum, but this really reinforces it for me - we owe it to members to have a sticky thread listing recommended springer tuners that people here have actually used, along with their contact details.

I appreciate that this could include current, former, and even banned members. But surely we can rise above any history or politics to make sure people have access to a full range of options, including RAT Works, and then allow them to make an informed decision for themselves.

At the end of the day, it’s about transparency and helping members spend their money wisely, not about endorsing one name over another.

Two words: "Nick" and "Simmons". That's all you need to know.

I had a Hw100 tuned by RatWorks about 5yrs ago. Uprated cylinder to 250bar, teng regulator and other tuning. It has been faultless since and plus am able to change the muzzle velocity if it creeps and so keep it within the law. Was it worth it? Can’t really tell as it was almost new when I sent it. You need to be aware that some RFD’s will not accept them in part exchange if Ratworked. As I have no wish to part with it, this is academic.

Nick’s a great tuner…

I’d also throw Swansea’s finest into the ring - shaun3y - he’s not on here anymore but an EXCELLENT tuner.

I had my Sandwell tuned 99 (Imp MKII) done by Deleted member as I’d had it a few years and wanted a change - the tune is better, not by a whole lot, but it is def better. 💪

If you want his contact there are plenty of people on here (including myself) that can pass them on.
