I just wanted to get other people's opinions about Andy’s Airguns / Vector Air and see if anyone has had a similar experience.
I bought my Uragan 3 from VA and initially had concerns that it was shooting below 11ft/lb with lighter pellets (8.44) and barely above with heavier ones (10.5). I was told by Andy this is normal, but all my guns have always been at least over 11 even with lighter pellets.
My second concern was that I told the gunsmith at VA about how the magazine often jams when cocking the gun while it’s elevated. Again, I was told this is normal and all air rifles will do that, and told always to point the gun down when cocking. Once again, this is not an issue with any of my other air rifles.
Yet I’ve come across this video by Andy where he’s pointing out what a huge problem it is and how BSA fixed it!

I might just be whinging, but contradictory information like that has really put me off buying from them again.

Do you have a timestamp so I dont have to watch the whole thing again?

If you hold it barrel up, it is logical the pellets could shift out of their mag seats, causing it to jam... but Im a noob.

Sorry, he starts to start cocking it whilst up in the air around 2:50. If you was shooting feral pigeons in a barn your gun would always be elevated so it shouldn't jam. I have cheaper guns that dont which is why its frustrating to here such BS from them.

I have heard other air gun enthusiasts mention that you should have the gun either parallel with the ground or pointing down when cocking, so I'm not sure it's BS,

Also, I think it's quite normal for rifles to be set to between 10.5 and 11ft lbs. It gives them a good margin for error and still gives reasonable power below the 12ft lb limit.

I have heard some whoppers from Andy on his YouTube channel, but I'm not sure these are examples.

Disagree personally. I've never had a gun do it before the Uragan, and its quite frequent. Snowpeak, Reximex, and FX have always been fine. Like I said in a previous comment, if you're feral pigeon shooting in a barn you never aim the gun down to cock it you keep it elevated - plenty of YT videos of people doing this.

The fact Andy admits it was a problem on the BSA and then goes on about it been sorted (around the 5 minute mark) in the video I shared shows hes an unreliable source of information and cant make his mind up.

You disagree that I've heard people talk about loading when parallel or pointing down? Have a google and see if this is a common issue or not.

My first Uragan 2 came from Vector and shot around 11ft lb tops and had the same mag issue which I believe is common place

It was however blindingly accurate and consistent and I have no issue with a rifle at that power as it’s plenty

My second Uragan 2 came via the UK importer and is shooting at 11.6 with heavy’s and does not have the mag issue when loading the action in the vertical position

Watching AAR Videos is not my cup of tea as he comes out with some spurious claims to say the least 🤨

Thats a real shame, I enjoyed his videos from a presentation point of view, although as a new air gunner even I did find myself thinking “what?” A few times!!

Sounds like there's not much of an issue from VA's point of view.

I've had guns that have a problem loading while elevated, but it's more a problem with the loader than the gun (in my experience).

Mags that use an o-ring or some method to hold the pellet don't suffer, but I've had a few where the pellet sits a little loose and as the gun is cocked the pellet can fall back.

Some single shot loaders suffer this too if no o-ring etc.

Also, the power level sounds fine to me. Id rather that than be too close to the limit. That power is perfectly fine for target work or ratting to the usual distances expected, so why the need to ramp it up if no issue. People get too obsessed with the power figures IMO, when anything over 10 is more than enough for it's purpose.

The gunsmith at Vector Air considers himself to be a an extension of the Police, likes to choke guns right down, won't supply the tool for fine tune Epics although they come free with rifle, if you are a hunting guy you need all the legal power you can get, Good luck 🤞 mitch21

In terms of vector air I wouldn’t buy anything from them but I may be a little biased after an awful and expensive experience with them and I did watch Andy's vids at one point but went off him.
In relation to pellets when cocking elevated this is an issue with a few models but not all, reximex are a bugger for it.
I actually have a uragan 2 but used on a bench so not experienced the issue with mine. I would say the type of mag will have an impact my carm mags for the uragan hold the pellets so wouldn’t imagine it would happen with them.

The power is questionable, but if over 11fpe at all then several shops will say it's fine as it may go higher with another pellet they have not tried or go up in warm weather, which could leave it at low 11s and be fine. For me it would not really be a problem, but I would at least like the option to have it running at 11.3/11.5 with heavies 🤷‍♂️

The pellet thing is garbage, I don't know if these guns are know for it, but it's a design issue in any gun if you have to have it horizontal to cock it with a mag, single shot loaders are a different thing entirely and you have to use common sense there.

As for Andy's channel?, interesting at times but not 100% reliable, he is still a salesman after all.

Why would you talk to Andy about a gun from Vector Air? How did you get to ask him? Did you meet him somewhere?

Anyone buying anything from VA is supporting this nonsense:

Personally, I have no wish to support any company who thinks it’s acceptable to conduct business in such a way or accuse its customers and threaten to report them to the police simply for asking for the ability to ensure they remain on the right side of a legal limit where the law clearly lays that burden on the owner.
