Today we return with our latest short film,'Just Pulling The Trigger', where we ask - is benchrest as easy as it looks?

You only have to look at any benchrest video comment section to see that there are a lot of folks who think benchrest isn't for "proper shooters", so we decided to explore what makes benchrest a precision sport whilst at the National Benchrest Championships with Benchrest GB.

We look at wind reading, pellet selection and talk to everyone from European champions to beginners.

Have you shot benchrest? Do you think it's easy?

Keen to hear your thoughts.

Nope, especially when all seems to be going well then the next 2 or 3 pellets decide for whatever reason that they want to go anywhere but close to the bull!

Or you can have a rifle that should be upto the task yet the barrel also decides that it doesn't want to shoot straight 🤬 (my LG110 I'm looking at you!)

Yes I found it easy.
Just make sure your pellets are not damaged.
If you want a challenge, I'd suggest a springer or gas ram.

Obviously it's easier to be accurate compared to other disciplines but the same is true for the other competitors, so it ends up being a lot closer and small differences matter. As one of the guys at my club said, "If every pellet landed where it was aimed we'd all be world champion!"

The folk who say it's too easy are the ones who can't shoot for :poop: :ROFLMAO:

I'm a decent shot, but far from what I used to be a few years ago, and it's taking some time to get back to where I want to be, so practice, testing, swapping stuff around, and then blame everything else but myself 😇 That's real BR shooting 😍

Depends on your expectations and how far you want to take it. It's once the shooter starts chasing near perfection that you might find yourself wondering why a couple of pellets just don't want to play ball or the shot execution goes off for a shot or two.

Definitely not easy. I have not shot it for a few months but had plateaued at the 246-7 level with the odd 250 card in practice. I've not be able to consistently score higher than 246-7 and that's really the bit (those last 3-4 points) that sorts the Ok/good shots (me) from the excellent ones (not me😢). Some folk on here have been able to put in 250 ex 250 competition cards (as opposed to practice cards) every month in our BR 20 comp - that'll never be me!

Indoors is not that bad but outdoors at 100m or 200m and some wind - things get difficult real fast.

I shoot a form of benchrest at my indoor range, the only wind we get is if someone farts.
After watching the video, realised how serious & professional real bench rest is.
Scary at how much those guns must cost, thinking about it.

Great video series. Some really thought provoking stuff in there. Thx

Half of them were HFT500s 😉

If you are chasing that x, it can be addictive then you want to put money in to it to get that x then when you do a 24 x then the last one if the off that is not a good feeling
