Do you think the accuracy claims at 70 yards are true?
If rifle is in top form & rifleman is in top form, I fail to see why not. Lots more " Riflemen" back in the day.👍
9.5 ft-lbs M.E. can still net you 4 odd ft- lbs @ 70 yards ...through a rabbit is quite possible.

Right power with a modern spring, I think it's a Titan xs or no. 7, is 10 -10.5 ftlb with Marksman 5.5 .22 in a 5.6 bore.

Just tried a few different pellets. This rifle has been standing for at least a year, no pull through, no cleaning between pellets, no adjustment to trigger weight and trying to remember hold.

As I don't have any Tyrant Hammer .22 I eventually found some VMX pellets.

So elbow rested a 5 shot group. The bore needs a clean, trigger needs adjusting, my hold needs reminding. Excuses, excuses, lol.

But still that's ok as a start, and I'll see if these pellets are still available.

The yellow around the 8 was a red sticky which the first 12 o'clock shot knocked off.

Great plinking fun!

Btw you won't find the quality of this 1936 metal on modern air rifles......maybe a Prosport comes close.l

Why do some here doubt the ability of a, (though archaic by today's standards ?), largely handmade & fitted , quality rifle...one used by those well practiced, by necessity, in the art & use of iron sights ? Those solely disposed to the use of optics, oft, high powered ones, used from supported positions at known distances, are possibly in denial through lack of use of older guns & sights ? The Boers were handin' out long range arse whuppins with the same" archaic" type kit & same proportionate accuracy for distance, with the same basic sighting system...in the 1890s ...Roger's Rangers, using Jaeger rifles 100 odd years prior. Other examples available
