Hw 80 fans

Mine is a mk1 action in a mk2 stock as I don't like the mk1 stock.
TbT maxi kit with the Export Weihrauch spring and on my FAC. AGS mildot scope. Open sights are long gone.

Here with the Edgar Brother's scope .

For me clasic stack with iron sights left on with a basic 4x scope but half decent glass say a doctor optic with a mil dot reticule sportsmach mounts for that classic vibe no mod and no sling. if i was to run a sling a rear swivel stud and use a Safari sling.
But sadly i have no horse in this race, and dispite being a huge fan i have not owned an HW80 since 1992.

I've just picked up a project mk1 80. Well to be more accurate, it's a bag of sad looking parts, but all present except the barrel.

I think it's been sat in a barn for years, so it's going to take some work to put right, but I'll be keeping it in the original stock. After it's been to Nath, that is- it looks like it's been chewed by mice 🤦‍♂️

I've yet to decide on tuning, but I know for sure it'll be getting a .22 barrel. I just need to choose whether to put some opens on it with a full length barrel, or get a shorter one for a blued slimtech style (probably DM80) moderator.

The action needs major rubbing down & polishing though (prior to a reblue) so it'll give me time to decide. Hopefully I can bring it back to life, I really can't get my head around why anyone would neglect a lovely rifle like the 80 to this degree.

Sounds an awesome project you got there, the good thing about blank canvases like this is you can build them just how you want them to be.
Re the neglect ... Just use and wear and tear on the stock and metal finish can play havoc with a gun, even if basicaly stored corectly blood spots thumb prints spatters can gave that deep blacking grey silver in no time. time and tide wait for no man or gun for that matter. I have grown to acept and embrace patina in guns wildfowling in the salt does that to a man. Rust is just a natural occurance slow it down control it but beating it never many have tried all failed.

Mk2 80k, .22, tasco hold antler, opens till on it.
It's Been like that since 1989 and fresh out of the shop. Does all I need so ehy spend out on it.
My other mk2 has a vmach kit, set back trigger and looks like it's had a hard life even after I replied it. One day I might get it done to a good std. Pcp's have come and gone but the 80k is for life or until it's to heavy for me then I will use the 99🤣🤣

I Think the HW80 is certainly in the best break barrel air rifles ever made if not the best. I Have had two in my life time thought they were both fantastic things both were used mostly for hunting and i acctualy only moved them on because they were att worth strong money, and they were stealing the use time from my childhood Feinwerkbau 127 sport which i still have at 68. The HW80 fails at nothing its the king of the hunter springers yet it is with a out doubt more than capable of ading into a FT OR HFT comp gun or any dicipline you care to taylor it to. Magnum springers in the uk at least tend to have slipped out of favor the uk sub 12ftlb law and dare i say the strict enforcement of these same laws over the past decade have prompted many to opt for a Smaller HW stablemate in favor of the Steadfst HW80.
All HWs are without exeption ( AND YES NOTHING WRONG WITH THE HW57 Either YOU ARE THE PROBLEM ) Superb Accurate quality GERMAN air rifles offering exeptional value for money which in todays world is fantastic in itself.
The HW80 is one of many true clasics in the HW Line up, and those of us who have used it and learned to work with the as suplied uk sub 12 shot cycle know how good it is and rate this fantastic spring air rifle accordingly.
