I'm settled on new dedicated 11mm Tier One mounts anyway but something that's always niggled away at me with 9-11mm stated mounts,
I just can't figure out how mounts can be both sizes. I've thought they could have a 0.5mm shim to the back? Surely the size from the back part of the dovetail which is part of the mount is a set size to the centre?
Confused.

11mm is " European standard" .43** " , American rimfire grooves( dovetails) are .375"/9mm ...one just flips the loose locking foot to accommodate the dovetail size on the rifle...imperfect - yep !🙂

Good point, this has always puzzled me as well, but I've hardly ever had issues setting up a scope. For me, I always optically centre a scope first (even if its brand new) and then shim without any adjustment, testing at 10, the 15 yards, until I only need minor elevation / windage adjustment to get it spot on.

European dovetails (11mm) are measured at the top, American 3/8" are measured at the bottom, approximating 9.5 mm. At the top they're about 12.7mm.
American are cut at 45 degrees, European at 60 degrees, meaning flipping one side will give unpredictable results.

Exactly 100% correct. Mounts CANNOT fit both sizes without being off centre. Did you get the mounts?:? I have the ones you want, and i can tell you they are brilliant. Expensive, but so pleased i got them.

I did get them and you are also exactly correct. Absolute belters. Just going back to the range now to better note down my findings with the new rifle as i chronoed it last thing after pellet testing on Friday and it was a bit low and erattic going from 10.2-10.7ft/lb.
I could deffinitely have went for the mediums although i did find a decent anchor at the high hieght plus i wouldn't get the sunshade on which i do want the option of so may leave well alone with that.

i had a right game trying to find rings for the dovetail on a CZ 527 found out in the end they are 16mm dovetail🤬

I had to try a few dovetail mounts before I was happy with the fit on my HW 100. Weihrauch use a shallow dovetail rail and any mounts without a correspondingly narrow/shallow angle clamp don't fit correctly leaving the mount a bit pissed looking.
not acceptable. I can't remember the make of mounts on it now as no name on them , don't think they're sports match but they do vary and its not necessarily to do with price either.

I had a PAO red dot, should fit 9 - 11 mm.
Wouldn't tighten enough on a 11mm rail on Mito pistol 🫣 You would think 11mm would be the same everywhere🤔

Was it on the shroud you tried mounting it? I had a 9-11 Weaver adapter from Vector that i tried to fit on mines for my red dot. Same thing. The threads on the adapters fixings bottomed out on the bolts shank. I had to replace them with machine screws that had threads all the way up to get a propper grip.

The 'jaws' just couldn't close up enough, fitted fine on Diana but rail measured 12 mm. Decided to try Hawke (fitted fine) instead of adapter making sight higher
